Someone else was driving my car, and when backing out of my garage, adjusted the mirrors somehow. Now every time I go in reverse, the mirrors tilt, but not in the direction they should- its not really useful at all. I have tried to adjust them, but its kind of hard to adjust the mirrors at the same time the car is in reverse. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to fix this? Is there a way to reset the mirrors to factory settings somehow?
They changed the settings to make them tilt for when you parallel park. Look under your settings tab and uncheck the the "tilt mirror in reverse" option
Yes, that was the first (and pretty much only) feature I immediately disabled on my MY12 Summit...I. Do. Not. Like. Mirrors. That. Change. When. Backing. Up.
I developed that, um...opinion...while driving my elderly dad's Caddy. (I also don't like seats that move when the vehicle is shut off)

I kind if like the way it works. If I know I am parking along a curve or something like that I bring up the settings screen and turn this feature ON. I can see the curb perfectly and make sure that I don't rub my wheels against it. Once done, I immediately turn the feature back OFF. I can make sure that I don't hit the curb. The mirrors return to their original position so nothing gets messed up by using the feature.
Speaking of mirrors, is there a setting to make them fold in when you kick the vehicle? Not that it makes the car in skinnier, the mirrors are already tiny, it just looks cool.
Had a 2012 Grand Cherokee and loved this feature, when mirrors tilt on reverse. Week ago shifted on 2014 Overland and found that now this lovely feature is absolutely useless because of the right mirror, which comes too low while on reverse. Now I can see everything on the ground near my right rear wheel, but don't see my right end at all, even bumper's corner.
Talked to engineer in dealership and he promised to look how to programm the position in which they tilt on reverse.
This feature is nearly useless since there is no adjustment to how much they tilt. When mine tilt, they give a nice view of the rear wheels, not the back of the vehicle. My mirrors have been disabled since, along with the equally useless rain sensing wipers. The wipers are neurotic or hopelessly random at best.

I have it turned off in my GC. I loved the setup in my 2004 Tahoe. You could have both mirrors tilt or just one or neither. I had the passenger mirror tilt, but not the driver mirror.
I've turned the tilt-down on in a couple of situations and leave it off otherwise. For my needs a dedicated on/off button near the adjustment button on the door would be more useful than having to go thru the settings each time, so I use the 2 personal settings as an alternative to that.
So stupid it's not programmed where only the one side mirror goes down, the one on the side you're parking on obviously. They could program the mirror to be selected based on when you put it into reverse and have either the left or right blinker on, or just let you select which mirror to auto tilt in reverse with a push of the left or right mirror button on the driver door. As it is, I've never even used this feature. I have to be able to see if any cars are coming on the side of me, you know the front fender will move outward as you back up and if someone is coming up on the side too close I have to be able to see that.
I like the mirror tilt. It's handy for parking garages and other places with narrow parking spots. When I'm parallel parking I want to see the rear wheel and I can monitor the back end using the backup camera.
I read on the Durango forum that you can adjust how much the drivers side tilts. The way you do it is put the car in reverse, then after the mirrors tilt, adjust the drivers side where you like it. The next time it should go to that setting. The passenger side isn't adjustable though. I just tried this on my car. I'll see if it worked tonight.

I was able to adjust the mirror angles by shifting into reverse, maintaining my foot on the break; then adjusting the angle for each mirror. I then shifted back into drive, then test the adjustment and it appears to work. I have a 2014 Overland. I'll test again, this evening, to verify the setting are permanent.
I like the mirror tilt feature except when trailering. Can't see the trailer and it is a lot of hassle to dig through the menu to turn it off and later back on. I wish they disabled the mirror tilt when in Tow/Haul mode. Also make the left mirror tilt less than it does.
I had a 2010 Ram 1500 that only the passenger mirror would tilt..THAT was helpful when parallel parking etc, to help keep from scarfing my rims.
Do not like both mirrors tilting though, renders them basically useless to see peripheral things behind you ( Which is what I usually NEED to see!)...
I just turn em off...
This vehicle is much easier to park though, and that is one of the reasons I switched to it. Quad cab pickups are just beasts to park in most traffic situations....
Overall very happy with it...
Hi all!
Here in Moscow dealership may reprogramm mirrors so that they wouldn't go so low. The default setting for the right mirror is 85 and I asked them to set it to 53 - now I can see what is behind and the rear wheel also
