Mostly vinyl? I'm not sure that's accurate...

GCOverland - you were right. I looked at the specs on Natura Leather website and it is all vinyl (100% polyurethane). No leather. Just can't see having pleather in a $50k+ vehicle.

Natura Leather Specs

I wouldn't rely on the info in that link.

It shows "Natura Leather" but the Summit has "Natura Plus leather".

There were several discussions about this topic in the past and AFAIK, Natura Plus is still real leather:

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit

I saw that post too but didn't see any insiders, more speculation on the "plus". All I know is that it is very confusing!!! I wonder why they would use the name "Natura" when the google search pulls up fake leather.

On another post, jeepgarage insider Chevyboy_711 stated it was in fact not real leather. He researched inside. I understand it may be more durable but I just prefer the real thing. Personal preference. If it is not real, they did a good job with the look and feel.

Didn't want to debate but it was just a sticking point for me. Wasn't my final reason for going with the Overland.

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit

Yeah, if it smells and feels like leather BUT is more durable, I wouldn't mind, either...

I dunno, to me "the real thing" would be analine leather, which is very rare in automotive applications because it requires a lot of maintenance. The Nappa leather is still a "urethane-coated" "bonded" leather, as in "your butt does not touch cow skin but rather plastic" and "more like particle board than an actual cow skin." The urethane coating provides protection against UV and abrasion and the bonded construction allows for a perfectly uniform texture and color.

To me, the True Scotsman argument between most car leathers falls flat because the vast majority of them aren't "real" leather anyway. Look at a Ford F-series King Ranch truck for what real leather looks like in a car. Just choose whatever you think looks or feels better and don't get wrapped around the axle about whether one is "real" or not.

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit

I've got an Overland diesel and love it so far. If you want luxury in a truck, the Tundra 1784 (or 1492, or whatever…) is amazing. A white 1784 with the glove leather interior is one of the best appointed vehicles I've seen.

Oh, and the 1784 is the analogue to the King Ranch Ford. Only more American content. So they say.

That's what I would think. In my JKR, the biggest difference in sound is putting fiber fill in the overhead speaker surrounds. So I'm told. I haven't done it.

Feed to the sound system is huge, as are speakers. Sirius/XM sound is crap. I mean, ab-sol-ute crap. The difference is amazing when the feed in my GC (or JKR) is my iPhone or better, CD's I've downloaded. If you're upgrading your sound system to listen to Sirius/XM, you're just putting lipstick on a pig.
