2014 Overland vs. Summit Spec list

I know we've got the list of changes to each model, for the main part, but is there a comprehensive spec sheet to compare the two yet? I'm wavering between the Summit, which I know has some minor extras, like front parking sensors, and the Overland, which has ORII.

Being able to ID those exact differentiations would help. I know I can get it when my dealer finally has the full data sets loaded, will just price out both with full line-item specs, but am impatient!

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit Spec list

The main difference when they are both fully loaded is the exterior appearance (body kit, fog lights, wheels), turning headlights, exhaust pipes, open pore wood and summit badges on the seats.

Thats it really.

Summit also has headlamp washers, front park assist and the Harman audio system.

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit Spec list

Thanks Milous... Why the heck no front parking sensors on anything but the Summit? That's been standard on the European models since the 2011s... (let alone being standard equipment on my old '98 Mercedes...)

Or alternatively... why no ORII for the damned Summit now? Both are sheer annoyances!

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit Spec list

The "no ORII" on the Summit's been discussed quite a bit. The bottom line is that Jeep is marketing the Summit as an exclusive "luxury" version with the Overland still available for folks who want both cush and off-road fun. The key word is "marketing" and the reality is that there are large numbers of us who don't buy a JGC for off-road...me being one of them. I had other reasons, basically combining a towing need with the desire for great comfort and "bells & whistles" during the extended highway driving my job sometimes entails. The Summit was the right fit for me in that respect. I will say that if I were buying a MY14, I'd have to give serious consideration to the Overland, loading it up to near-Summit level simply because I abhor the idea of a dark-only interior...I love the MY14 Summit except for that one factor. IE, different strokes...

In a world with parking spaces designed for a Smart 4two ...I'd like all the help I can get parking my $55,000 vehicle thank you very much...since I'm in the states its not really a problem but if I were to be across the pond that's a whole other story.

Thankfully, as hard as Washington tries, we are not Europe.

Kind of an a-hole thing to say, considering you don't know me, or my pristine front bumper, thank you very much.

I do live in Europe, where parking spaces/parking houses are built for bicycles, and things like that are handy. It's not that you can't live without it, but it does make life a little easier.

Not to mention standard equipment in Europe, just like power folding mirrors. It's kind of a rip-off, frankly, that Jeep has had those as standard features since the 2011 in Europe, and markets it as the latest "upgrade" for the 2014 in the States.

Re: 2014 Overland vs. Summit Spec list

^^^ I agree, and besides couldn't you technically say that about 90% of the bells and whistles on the Overland? You don't need pretty much any of that stuff to drive, but we all like it. I personally can see front park sensors coming in great handy even in the U.S. there has been many times I wish I knew exactly how much room was in front of me. Probably more so than the rear sensors. Especially because we have a backup camera. Put those sensors in the front :-)
