Can you please comment on my questions (asked above)? I realize it's one person's opinion, but I'm curious what you think of those items on your interior.

Re: 2014 Overland......Wow........

JGC, here's is what I will tell you. My girlfriend, who is brutally honest when it comes to her opinions on my vehicles absolutely loves the interior, the color scheme, the leather, the seats (esp the comfort level) and actually commented that she thinks the bronze makes the interior even more classy looking (her words). Here is how I can break it down. She was with me when I recently test drove the ML350, the Chevy Avalanche, the Acadia Denali, a '13 Trailhawk and has also driven in my Sequoia, my LR 4, my first ML 350 my 4Runner and my H3 and she said unequivocally that the '14 GC interior is the nicest out of all of them. The reason why I bring her opinion up is because she can be totally objective whereas we sometimes convince ourselves that we like something when we really don't (I have done this in the past and it has caused me to make some bad car decisions).

As for me, I am totally happy with the ebony interior with the brown walnut wood - oh, and the steering wheel looks GREAT. Part of the reason why I shy away from lighter interiors is because in the past I have had a very difficult time trying to keep them clean. If you wear any kind of slacks that bleed you're in for some frustating times. I remember the ebony interior of my '99 BMW 323is looked almost brand new when I sold it. On the other hand, my SC400 had a tan interior and man every little smudge, stain and other imperfection showed up something fierce especially in the sun. That used to really bug me LOL.

Re: 2014 Overland......Wow........

One other thing, it is absolutely ridiculous that dealerships insist on drilling holes into the front bumper purely for advertising purposes when the state in which they reside does not require a front license plate. This is an utterly nonsensical practice and it drives me insane. I drove up Wednesday night to see the '14 and right there on the front was the dealership license plate affixed to the bumper by two drilled-in screws, and this particular dealership was in a state that does not require a front license plate. I told them that I was not taking delivery until and unless those holes were fixed at no charge. It shouldn't have to come to that. I should have actually walked away but I was hot for the car and didn't feel like ordering one and then having to wait.

So how does their repair job look?

Thanks for all your comments! I think the Hemi would be great but am waiting to order the diesel as I think it will be better to tow a trailer at altitude (Colorado). I saw the GC in Detroit in January and also think the interior is very nice. I appreciate your car history! I'm excited to try a Chrysler product after growing up mostly GM. I noticed the same thing about the skinny GM steering wheels in the trucks! My 1990 GMC Sierra had a better steering wheel!

Re: 2014 Overland......Wow........

Cope, the repair actually looks good. I was surprised because they fixed it in one day. Supposedly, the body shop they use is really good. I looked really close and you can't tell the holes were there. So I am happy.

Route 66, I didn't want to wait for the diesel. I had a version of the Hemi in my 2006 SRT8 and I really liked it, so I went with the 5.7. Oh, and the GM SUV steering wheels are hideous and they should be ashamed of themselves. Here I am driving in this huge Avalanche and it feels like I am holding a spaghetti string in my hand.

Re: 2014 Overland......Wow........

I do like the Hemi but I really am a sucker for gas mileage. I'm averaging about 22 MPG in mixed driving in my 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited and I want to at least keep up with that, the diesel should surpass that. The steering wheel in the Outback is a nice thick leather covered wheel. So much better than many new SUV's! When I sat in the Grand Cherokee, I did really like the steering wheel. I can't wait to try out the ventilated seats this summer! Glad your bumper turned out well.
