that is good to hear. Probably the torque management disable is the single biggest gain. I hate the feeling on the computer slowing it down.

glad it is working.

I test drove a new Explorer sport and am wondering if the off-road loss is worth the speed of the Explorer.

Re: 2014 performance - 0-60 ???

Well, in the pre-8 speed world, the CRD beat the Hemi by about a half second in the 0-60.

I'm curious to see if that holds true with the 8 speed.

still doubt that claim. Has anyone ran a crd to 60 in Australia or something and recorded it? Would like to see a movie and compare times from that.

What's your predictions?

Here is 2013 RAM INFO?
DRIVETRAIN: 3.6-liter, 305-hp, 269-lb-ft V6; RWD, eight-speed automatic
CURB WEIGHT: 4,572 lb
0-60 MPH: 7.6 sec (mfr)

Thanks,
Paul
Why does the Ram get 305-hp, 269-lb-ft and the Jeep gets 290-hp, 260-lb-ft??!?!?

Jeep should get a power bump, maybe the 2014 v6 did and I just missed it?

That would be the official word from Jeep themselves...

Not sure what benefit they would have to saying their diesel is faster then the Hemi...

Wondering the same thing as this is THE SAME engine and the same tranny. Not sure what is driving those discrepancies. Somebody mention that MY2014 will get a small bump in HP but when the official info came out a week ago it still states the same.

15 ponies is not a lot but given that GC is 5K lbs and V6 has been working hard every bit would help. Actually big RAM pickup is lighter than GC (at least according to the numbers posted online).

Same engine and tranny but probably different programming. I guess >300hp is more important from a marketing perspective for trucks, while fuel economy is more important from a marketing perspective for SUVs?

I agree though, a bump would be kinda cool. I'm plenty happy with the 8 speed upgrade though.

You might be right ... 305 looks much better than 290. Seriously ...

Re: 2014 performance - 0-60 ???

Yeah, looking on the "specs" part of the RAM 1500 2013 page: for the 4x2 SLT, which is basically the same weight as the Laredo 4x2, it gets 17/25 MPG, same numbers that Milous gave (preliminary) for both the 4x4 and 4x2 V6 2014 JGC.

However on the RAM site for the 4x4 SLT, which is about 100 pounds heavier than the 4x4 Laredo (but lighter than some higher trimmed JGCs), the MPG is listed at only 16/23...

Re: 2014 performance - 0-60 ???

Difference in hp numbers reflects different exhausts, intakes, and tuning. Sort of why the Ram gets 390hp from the 5.7L, and the Durango (even the R/T) and GC get a decent amount less.

A CRD may beat a Hemi to 60 if and only if the CRD is going to 60 km/h and the Hemi is going to mph.

0-100KMH with the 5 speed

CRD: 8.2 Seconds
Hemi: 8.7 Seconds

Source

*shrug*

Iffin' it wasn't true... I'm not sure why Jeep would say it.

I suspect if they were going to bluff, they would want to say the Hemi was faster than an oil burner, not the other way around.

Either way, I'm curious to see how the 8 speed impacts these times.
