Truthfully, the taller 1st gear was one of the things I actually liked. I don't care for vehicles that rush through first gear super quickly, it feels like they didn't add enough power so they compensated by having a really short gear, and IMO it doesn't fit the personality of a comfortable cruiser.

FWIW, they're talking a few tenths of performance increase from the new transmission.

I don't think your taking into account how much faster the 8 speed shifts. It can shift up and down several gears in the time the 5 speed shifts one gear which is one of the reasons it has much better midrange performance. The 8 speed is just much better in every way.

Re: 2014 performance - 0-60 ???

So I have no doubt the 2014 diesel is better in every way. Is it $15-$20k better (estimated hit to trade my '12 Laredo on a '14 Limited) Wellllll.

BTW my Pentastar does make only one shift in a 0-60 & if I slap the stick it is near instant.

Re: 2014 performance - 0-60 ???

If it is a truck that gets to 60MPH in less than 8 seconds, I call that fast. I know that isn't fast like an SRT8 or Porsche Cayenne, but those are absurd frankenstein vehicles for people with too much money. 7.7 seconds for the diesel to 60MPH is awesome when you consider it also comes at 28MPG highway and a range of about 700 miles.

Just because a transmission shifts faster it does not necessary mean faster 0-60 times. My Corvette Z06 does over 60 mpg in 1st gear lol.

Not to bust your bubble but estimation is always a naughty word when posting proof.

Automobile-Catalog the complete Catalog of Cars, car specs database ProfessCars™ estimation ©

The same site state the the '11 wk2 is 7.8-8.2 with the 5.7L which is a little high

I hope you are right. I would love for it to get a low 6 second 0-60. I am in the market now for a 2014 limited. I put about 6k miles per year on the car so mpg is not an issue (i have other cars). At 6 seconds 0-60 ill get the hemi....otherwise its the 3.6. I remember motor trend saying that if there is a difference of 0-60 of 0.3 seconds, you won't feel it.

Does anyone know if the DiabloSport Trinity will work with the 2014 Hemi?
