Question 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

I just read a comparo between the 2014 GC Summit diesel and Mercedes ML diesel. It said the Summit's QL air suspension automatically lowers at shut off. Is this true and is there a firmware update for previous model years?

Comparison Test: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML 350 Bluetec - Autos.ca

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

The Jeep QL can be set to lower with the car in park, but only on late August 2014 builds and later. No retro or updates for older models.

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

Thanks. That would be a nice convenient feature. Hope Jeep or someone comes up with a retro upgrade. You would think it's all software.

Mine has this feature but I hardly notice it lowering since it is only 1/2" from normal aero mode...

I believe it was reported to be hardware related.

I'm not sure the feature is that great. When I put my Jeep in park I'm already opening the door. That, for safety reasons stops the motion.

I hit the down button as I approach my driveway. As soon as you go below 15mph the Jeep starts to lower. By the time I turn off the car it's lowered all the way.

Entry/Exit mode is 1.5" below NRH and at least to me, its a pretty noticeable difference when I use it.

I agree. That's why I use it everytime I park.

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

I like the feature in mine and is very noticeable for us height challenged. But like was mentioned, it stops lowering when you open the door. So if you jump right out - it is not lowered.

As I near my driveway or enter any parking lot, I activate the park mode. But there are times I haven't timed it right or just in a hurry and it stops.

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

Well, if it's in the 2014's then it can be done. Range Rovers lower at park automatically but they may have an open air suspension sysyem.

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

Found this on WK2jeeps:

NOTE: Auto Entry/Exit Suspension mode

Early 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's (built through late July 2013) equipped with SER air suspension are not equipped with the "auto entry/exit" feature that will automatically drop the vehicle to park height for easier entry and exit. Late 2014 vehicles will be equipped (starting with late July 2013 production). Vehicles that are equipped with the feature will have sales code xzz "mid year tracking" in the sales code list on the vehicle build sheet. On vehicles equipped with Auto Entry/Exit Suspension mode, the feature can be turned on or off via Customer Programmable Features on the radio. Press the Apps soft-key, then press the Settings soft-key to display the menu setting screen. Select the Suspension soft-key and touch the box next to your selection and a check-mark appears next to the feature showing the system has been activated or the check-mark is removed showing the system has been deactivated.

Re: 2014 QL: Automatic Lowering?

Interesting, I have a June build and mine has/had it. I used it for a bit but decided it just wasn't needed. I haven't checked since to see if its still there or if I lost the functionality with one of the uConnect updates.
