Re: 2014 Rear tow hook?

I hate buying crap from China...

...so I'll be buying this 2" T6 aluminum shackle rated at 11,000 lbs. Only the D-ring is Chinese made...

Re: 2014 Rear tow hook?

Word to the wise: toss the Chinese made shackles. They have been known to fail at a much lower weight than what they are rated for. I tried to dig up the OSHA warning but couldn't find it. The company I work for got a letter a while back (among other things we sell and install industrial HVAC) to destroy all Chinese made units.
They would probably be ok for little jobs like pulling a car out of a ditch in the snow. I would not trust one off road, especially if using a snatch block. It is not pretty when a tow strap lets loose under tension.

1. I believe you have wiring, but no hitch.
2. Huh? I've installed rear tow hooks on the line (Pain in the rear!!!) and I can't see any reason why those two would interfere with each other. As a matter of fact, I am about 99% sure that we build Jeeps with Quadra-Lift and tow hooks every day. I'll make 100% solid sure on Monday.

Re: 2014 Rear tow hook?

How's about a copy of the letter hoss or a link to it? No guarantee that that the same set up built in the USA by union workers would be any better? Where is this aluminum one made? I have used mine to tow out a Ford 250 and Chevy 2500 w/o any issues from the snow last Thurs w/o any issues.

According to jeeps build and price page when you add the off road adventure 2 package it adds the towing package and deletes the rear tow hook, we all know how accurate that site is but still, from the looks of it you can't get it that way from the factory.

So who towed who out? You posted before they had to tow each other out. Now all of the sudden you are towing trucks weighing 6000 lbs plus 8 bales in the back?
If what you say is true that "union made" one seems to have worked just fine.

My point is that he has the prep group, not the towing package which means NO hitch/tow bar.

IIRC, the wiring is there, just no hitch.

And if he wanted the rear tow hook, I can't see why the Quadra-Lift suspension would have anything to do with that. There's no Quadra-Lift components in that area of the Jeep at all. There's hoses NEARBY, but nothing blocking/interfering the installation of the tow hook.

Also, we build according to region. They're not equipped exactly the same worldwide. The ones going to the GCC countries, for example, have no privacy glass.

Thumbs up Re: 2014 Rear tow hook?

Having used this to pull a larger vehicle back onto the road this winter, I feel pretty good about this D-Ring hitch insert. This was from Quadratec.com, and I use it with my 2014 GC:

I had fun pulling a friend's pickup back onto the road; he was always giving me grief that my Grand Cherokee was nice, but that for good snowstorm performance, I really needed a heavy pickup with a lift kit like his... imagine the pleasure in hauling him back onto the blacktop with my GC!

Thanks Marlon for trying to help
We have 2 dealers in UAE, one told me the tow hook can't be installed coz it's interfering with the gas tank! The other said coz of the quadra lift! They seem to have no clue what they are talking about specially for the new 2014 models.. My concern was that I don't have a rear recovery point..
I got the hitch installed but still need the harness!
I understand that GCC specs are different and for the privacy glass it's limited by the law here but everyone is doing dark tint anyway
One more silly issue with GCC specs, no remote start! Donno why the heck it's not available?! Nothing to do with local laws, it's there on lots of other models/brands and even older jeeps!!

You're 100% sure you do NOT have the harness?

One dealer said you can't have the tow hook because of the GAS TANK?

Um, the gas tank is in FRONT OF THE REAR AXLE.
