Car has been kept in a garage and washed after every snowstorm.
Should I be worried? I plan to keep this car for a long time. Wasn't expecting ANY rust on a car that is less than 1 year old. Should I talk to dealer?
I have a 7.5 year old Commander with essentially the same exact hitch design. At about 50,000 miles I have zero rust on the vehicle. My Wrangler on the other hand -- plenty of rust.
The difference? The Commander has lived its life in the desert Southwest and is garage kept. It is washed and dried every one to two weeks. It's only exposure to salt has been ocean air when we go to San Diego, and an occasional trip to the high country to play in the snow.
The Wrangler on the other hand, started life in NY and PA and is kept outside. It has seen PLENTY of salt in it's day. That stuff is nasty and does quick damage to metal.
I would address it with your service advisor, they probably won't do anything, but at least there would be a record of you lodging the complaint.
