Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

Are you in neutral that often that pressing a button becomes an annoyance?

I honestly can't remember the last time I've had to shift from neutral to drive. P to D or P to R or R to D

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

Might want to wait for the Durango to come out before hacking into it to much. Not sure what to expect from that since I haven't been following that thread as much. If they put a rotary dial on that console it might be easier to retrofit.

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I doubt the Durango will get it since it's a Dodge product and not a Ram product. The Charger which is a Dodge product has the same style as the Jeep.

Because even though my WK2 went through a so called Quality Assurance Test (see my post elsewhere) where they also put about 28 miles on my WK2, they didn't put the center console cover around the shifter back on properly. And also the little storage compartment (usb/sd card) in front of the shifter also isn't installed properly. I rather repair it myself then have the dealer attack it. But I might have to go back since the centering of the steering wheel is off so it sounds like a wheel alignment is in order. Joy

So, you haven't paid any attention to the 2014 Durango thread I see.

I try to stay away. We wanted a Durango originally and if I find I like the update, I will end up hating myself for jumping the gun on the 2014 JGC update

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I do like something to sort of rest my hand on anyway, so I doubt I'd put much effort into swapping out a Durango dial. I do think the dial would look a little better appearance wise though. Sure hope I still like my GC more after we see the details next week.

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

re Hand on shifter: You must never have had a Saxomat.
BTW once upon a time GM cars had R next to L to make it easy to rock a car out of snow/sand. Then the fed insisted that N be in the middle so shifters were designed to make R to D and verse the vice easy. Guess this has been forgotten.

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I like it! I think it makes more sense than the joystick in the GC...

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I don't know if I like that. If it was similar to the Jaguar dial shifter that raises when you start the car then I would be all for it, but I think I like the shifter in the GC.

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I personally would miss a shifter, I don't care for the dial.
