Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I know this doesn't help, but curious as to why you want to remove it?

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I wonder as well. I'm sure it's possible, but what's underneath since it's an electronic shifter now. Probably would get a better answer on a 300/Charger board since they've had this shifter longer and might have mods for it if that's even possible.

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

Ok I'm going to ask a dumb question.... Are people wanting to change out the shifter because of their legs getting prodded by the shifter or for aesthetics?

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

Was thinking i needed to see a exploded view of the center console too. My idea is to get the shift dial from the Ram and replace shifter in the GC. Would have to do some studying but i dont think it wold be hard to just build a mounting plate that sits in original shifter opening.........

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

I don't think the Ram dial has a button for the sport mode though, so you would have to figure out how to incorporate that as well.

This seems like WAY too much work, money, and time, for what? Aesthetics?

I think the dial with a filler plate would look much worse than the shifter.

My first few vehicles in life were manuals, so my hand is always on any shifter. The shifter in the '14 is really comfortable and gives me something to rest my hand on. I would hate having the dial in the Ram.

How touchy is the shifter? I've always rested my hand on the shifter as well and was worried that the 14 shifter would be too touch for this. I don't want to be constantly shifting it into neutral....

Re: 2014 Shift Handle Removal

Could be made to look factory, easy. Would have to incorporate a button for sport. Im talking about making a marketable conversion not a hacked together garage build.

Not touchy at all....that won't happen. You'd have to bump into it really good in order to shift into neutral... definitely not by resting or moving your hand on/around it.

In order to shift into an actual gear, you need to depress the button.

I leave my hand on the shifter all the time. It's not an issue. You'd have to knock the shifter pretty good to even think about bumping it into neutral.

The one thing I don't like about the new setup is you can't go from N to D without depressing the button. Small, but an extra step nonetheless.
