Given the rate these rims are bending it should save thousands over the next several years. What is good about it also is that it is mopar not 3rd party so just attaches to your vin and dealer takes car of the rest. 18s do give you one more inch of side wall that will help. Its funny because the bigger rims like 20s are all about "the look" most every other point to them is a negative, maybe little better handling also.

Re: 2014 summit another bent rim

Just a follow up on this, so after the new rim was installed I noticed I had to fill it up every few days as it was leaking air. Back to the dealer and they found the tech that installed it cracked the valve stem causing a leak, they fixed it and hopefully that's it for the rim issues for a while anyway.

Something else to consider, the dealer I go to has a service department that is opened from 6:00- Midnight. I have never gone at night before but it was a better experience, not may people there no rushing around and more personal attention maybe a less rushed job on the work also. going to try the 9:00 pm appointment in the future and see how it goes.

Re: 2014 summit another bent rim

Question: this seems reasonable, but since it is a MOPAR contract are you required to buy the replacement tires from a Chrysler dealer? As you can see I have Nokians and my dealer does not represent that brand. Thanks.

yes I would think you would have to have all of the work done at a jeep dealer but I don't know that for sure. it covers aftermarket rims tires so they should be able to order whatever you needed but that is a good question. my tires are not the forteras that came on the jeep (thank god) and they said if I had issues that didn't matter. even if its not a commonly carried tire they should be able to source most available tires. Call bob at Ziegler he would be able to tell you how that was handled. very nice guy to work with.

Re: 2014 summit another bent rim

would it be possible to stop the wheel dings with a better tire? it could be that the tires on it now have too soft a side wall for the profile they are in. when i had my nitto's i found i never once dinged a wheel. however with my current set of generals, im finding that my wheels are way more susceptible to getting dinged. the side walls on the generals are also a lot softer too...

That's a good point jeff. the ones I have on it now do have a firmer side wall than the forteras. forteras were very soft, made for a softer spongier ride but also handled badly. current latitude HPs are v rated with little stiffer side walls. the Bridgestone alenzas I tried were like driving on rocks very hard and you felt every tiny little bump. Latitude HPs I have now are in between the two so probably a good compromise. the first rim was bent with the forteras and the 2nd with the latitude HPs. who knows but I do know going forward I wont be paying for the future bends lol, $310 well spent.

Yup...but it also back-dates to the original in-service date for the vehicle if it's not the MaxCare Lifetime service contract.

Re: 2014 summit another bent rim

Thanks for starting this thread Silver. Sorry it was due to a mishap for you though. As the Road Hazard Warranty has gone to the top of my first things to do list. I have already spoke to Bob about purchasing. I will be calling him as soon as I take delivery of my Overland. I know exactly how you feel though I went through 3 tires last winter. 2 of them in the same day. At 340.00 a tire I regretted not getting a Tire warranty. I certainly wont make the same mistake this time. 310.00 is an absolute bargain.

Great glad you are getting it when you first buy the jeep Dennis that is what I should have done, would have saved me over $1000 for these 2 rims so far. it is a bargain, rim and tire coverage for 7 years for $310 im sure I will make use of it as easily as the first 2 bent. the thing about these larger 20" rims and this sensitive suspension setup on these jeeps is they don't have to be bent very much for you feel it small bends can result in shaking. take it in thinking you only need a balance and come out $700 later with a new rim. $624 for the rim, tax mounting and balancing take it to $700, crazy. Do that twice in a year and you will pull your hair out. I have never replaced a single rim in 30 years of driving until this
