Sometimes wrong, but in this case: "incomplete". More part numbers will be added at some point, to match each of the different variants. For a new/refreshed vehicle, it is not uncommon for the parts system/database to be behind - but 8 months into the model year, the 2014 information should certainly be accurate and up to date.

Even the current 2014 service manual still shows/references the liftgate flip-up glass, as well as the 5-spd shifter and 2013 dash/trim parts.

Re: 2014 Summit speaker color different on L and R

I wonder if it's possible that they can take apart the door in a Summit with the black interior on the lot and see if it has a part number on the back?

While many parts may have numbers stamped on them, very rarely do they equate to the actual part number that Chrysler uses, especially on trim pieces.

IMHO, this is an issue that the dealer should address... It's a factory boo-boo...

I never did find out what the so called Quality Asssurance Test involves. They probably just took a joyride around Detroit to grab lunch. Maybe that explains why it needed a 4 wheel alignment at delivery. No doubt there are a lot of huge potholes around Detroit.
Actually they take the whole thing apart to inspect it, then put it back together.

Re: 2014 Summit speaker color different on L and R

So is a vehicle manufacturing line, is it like mass chaos when it is running with parts laying around here and there with shit flying everywhere and people scrambling around to find the right parts to put in the right places or is there more refinement to it? How does a part that doesn't belong on a certain trim winde up there? They ran out didn't want to leave a hole and scavenged around and found something on the other side of the factory that fit and stuffed it in there? Just curious of the way this all works? I could tell you a lot about semiconductor wafer manufacturing lines but vehicle manufacturing lines I am ignorant Since its not a huge deal I will probably wait a while and bundle this trip with the external temperature sensor fix when it comes out and whatever else may come up in the next month or two. Probably one trip for them to say yeah we need to order that and another to install hopefully that simple.

If you let them know about it now...even if you have to email photos...they could order the part for you and have it there for when you go in for the other fix...

Honestly the parts are cued up with the VIN and usually very accurate. I did see a tail lamp switch that happened to a member. I believe that it is an honest human error mistake that happens very rarely.

Re: 2014 Summit speaker color different on L and R

Check your engine. You may got a Hemi by mistake instead of the V6....
Just kidding! Hopefully you get it fix. There is no excuse! On a $50K vehicle someone should be paying attention what is installing and can't blame it on the computer error. Sorry guys!

Re: 2014 Summit speaker color different on L and R

I sent the pictures to the dealer where I bought it and they apologized and already have the parts on order based on the pictures which was nice of them. They said they will have parts in 7 days and will call. Sounds good so far crossing my fingers I have found a the mythical good dealer service department.
