Maybe they corrected this problem.Traded the Jeep after a year for a car that got better gas mileage (job change-2 hr drive/day). Moved 3 minutes from new job. Now I want my Jeep back, this time a Summit. Just trying to decide 6 or 8 cylinder. Don't want diesel
We just replaced a 1997 V8 JGC with a 2014 V6. I six weeks of ownership we have put 2400 miles on it. Wife uses it to drive through town for work. Balance of mileage is highway road trips on weekends. We have been pleased with the Pentastar engine. People grouse a bit about performance in ECO mode. I tend to have a heavy foot when I drive and I am not dissatisfied with how this does on ECO. If you want to be pinned back in your seat when you take off from a stop light just put the Jeep into Sport mode. We will not do heavy towing with this vehicle (have a truck for that) so we are pleased with the choice to go V6. We were getting tired of 15mpg city in our old V8 Jeep.

As for interior colors, we went with the black / light frost beige interior. I do light interiors. My truck interior is saddle colored. I have never been a fan of black interiors.

Or Jeep could recognize that there is a healthy market for a "not all black or not all brown" interior for the Summit buyer. There are many of us who really hate dark interiors. Honestly, even the Saddle/Black I have now pushed my limits and the black part has been very difficult to keep clean.

Re: 2014 Summit with Saddle interior

Just picked up a 2014 Summit in Granit Crystal/ Black, I also wish they would have offered a light interior.

I loved my 2011 Overland in Blackberry/ light frost.
I would have gone for an Overland with the frost interior again except the carpets are now also light. In my 2011 they were a dark brown to match the dash.

The carpets still looked good after 3 years, I was concerned with how the light carpet would survive, and would have had to special order to get that. When I did a search for inventory, there was not a V8 with light interior to be had. Dealers must assume everyone wants a black interior...

If I was going to be stuck with a dark interior, I might as well go for the Summit.

I do miss having real buttons for the heated seats/ steering wheel, other then that, I am happy so far.

I got a 2013 Overland in Blackforest Green, which is a color I would not normally like... but the Saddle interior with this paint, which looks green in the sun and black in the shade just really look good together. Some color combinations just work.

I have a 2013 Summit w/ Saddle interior. The dash is saddle too, which leaves a slight glare on the windshield.

Dcbullets, I noticed that glare for the first few days of driving, but it "disappears" once you get used to it. And my dash seems to be much cooler than a black one would be...

Re: 2014 Summit with Saddle interior

After over 40k miles, I am amazed at how well my interior as "aged"…I wore the outer edge on the RR and the F250 leather seats by 40k…The Jeep just shows a few extra wrinkles and no fades. I do, as I have to all my vehicles, treat the interior to a Lexol rub down every 6 months or so.

I truly believe the saddle interior was an expensive offering. As a result, they came up with the doodie brown as a lower (manufacturing) cost alternative. Every time I see a '14 lately, it just looks cheap to me.

Re: 2014 Summit with Saddle interior

I wouldn't say the jeep brown looks cheap but I would have preferred something else. I'm frankly tired of the sea of black and the thing about the brown is it isn't much different as its quite dark. Really good at hiding the dirt in this area though, I give it that much. Still if I had had a choice I likely would have went with whatever was behind door number three. While I'm at it why do you put wood in a car and then dye it a color that makes it blend in perfectly with the rest of the exact same color stuff all around it? Shouldn't it be a different but complimentary shade? I don't know, maybe its just me.

Yes, when I picked up my Black Summit, there was a Green Overland with Saddle interior waiting for pickup too. Very very sharp and loved the green in the bright sunshine....would have loved to have seen a Summit in Green with the full Saddle interior....woulda been really amazing, but Jeep never made the Summit in green.
