I don't think we will see a new tahoe for AT LEAST another year. They have shown versions of what the new trucks will look like but have yet to show anyone at any of the car shows any of the new SUVs. I have a feeling when we do see them they will be a 2015 model year, and I'm guessing they won't gone on sale until late summer of next year. Pisses me off b/c I want a new Suburban, like I want a new Suburban months ago, not next year.

That's a photoshop of the new truck made to look like a tahoe. The Tahoe and Yukons will look different on the exterior than the pickups. My local dealer confirmed this b/c he has layed eyes on them. Kinda hinted that they actually looked better than the trucks. Not that he would come right out and say that the products he sells look like ass.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

Also, my 09 Suburban, which is significantly larger than my GCw/Hemi, gets the same average fuel economy, actually, sometimes it's even worse.

Tahoes are a dying vehicle, they don't have as much space as GM's Lambdas, don't have as nice of rides or interiors, and get way worse fuel economy. The only advantage they have is that some people like trucks, and they can tow a lot more. Unfortunately for them, that market is shrinking massively, as the unibody CUVs grow in tow rating past 5000 pounds. Given that the GC/Durango and other unibody vehicles can tow past that, it's only a matter of time before things like the Acadia and the like get powerful enough engines to tow that much.

GM's new 400hp turbo6 transplanted into the Lambdas (it's already going in the FWD Caddy XTS) might be enough motivation to allow them to pull that much weight. Then its a matter of brakes and chassis stiffening to allow it to completely replace the Tahoe.
I haven't checked lately, but a year or so ago GM dropped plans for a Lambda based Caddy because it couldn't handle the additional power the Caddy label would require.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm sure I could have googled it, but I didn't. I just think that front end fails in the looks department. I don't think they can improve on the body style they have had over the past few year, but that's just my 2 copper.

Also, off topic, your dog, if that's yours in your pic is toooo cute.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

I own a 2008 Tahoe with the 5.3 v8. I have about 50k miles on my Tahoe and I've had no problems. I average about 12mpg which is the same I average on my Jeep. And the Tahoe is rolling on 305's with 24'' wheels. Not bad at all. The interior isn't as nice as my Jeep but it looks the same as it did when I bought it. It's held up really nice. You can't beat the cargo size either with the 3rd row taken out. The rear captain's chairs are also a nice feature that is really comfortable for passengers.

I am also waiting for the next generation Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade to come out before I make an upgrade.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

True story. I was actually close to pulling the trigger on a '13 White Diamond Tricoat Chevy Avalanche before I actually got the '14 Overland. That Avalanche was absolutely gorgeous. But But my God, the interior. I could not get past the dull and outdated looking interior which ultimately led me to the '14 Overland.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

I would definitely wait and don't get the first year of the next generation either. So then you are looking at a 2015 or 2016.

People compare the interiors but you have to remember the Tahoe has a truck interior. Chevy doesn't try to make it a luxury car like the Jeep does. If you like boat-loads of interior space and not having a car size interior, then get a Tahoe.

Agree on the post above. GM is late to the game with interiors. Anyone remember in '06 when the 900's came out? Went crazy over that interior when compared with the outgoing 800's.
Also keep in mind, the big haulers got caught in the GM bankruptcy- they were up for a redo for MY '12. Runnin outa money in '08 put a stop to that program.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

I wasn't looking for a luxury interior at all. Just, for instance, instrument gauges that were merely comfortable to look at at night. The instrument cluster lighting/color scheme in the Avalanche was the worst I had ever seen. It was actually not comfortable to my eyes at night.

I have a 2007 LTZ Suburban 2500 with 97000 miles. Unbelievable vehicle. 13 .6 mpg with 6.0l.

I also have the 2014 JGC Limited. Awesome ride. But they have two different purposes.

I wont get rid of either till they are unrepairable.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

WK2 is a mid-size SUV, not large. If you look at the Reattae in my sig, it is 6" longer and 3.5" wider. Both fit in the same space. The Judge is a foot longer. I used to have a 67 Cad Fleetwood Sixty Special Brogham that was almost three feet longer.
