Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

I realize this is a Jeep forum, and most are going to be partial to the GC. However I've owned GM full sizes from 85 when they weren't popular, or called SUV's people who, had big families, worked hard, had rural property, pulled toys, ETC, and needed a comfortable do all vehicle owned them. I owned four of them for years each until a couple of years ago when I sold my 07. While the GC is a great vehicle, and has served me well in pretty much every category. I obviously know the GM better than the GC I was only let down by a transmission, and a rear differential on separate trucks once. That's beside a dead battery, alternator, brakes, or something normal like that. They are diehard vehicles, comfortable, roomy, good looking, Not as bad with MPG as you might think ,and will pull almost anything you don't need a fifth wheel for. My last was a white 07 LTZ with tan leather, and I think the interior was on par, or better than the same level Limited. Don't forget when you're comparing the Overland,Summit that GM also has the Denali, and escalade models for those wanting more luxury, and toys. However I've grown to love My little GC I wasn't sure which is why I brought a used one. If I didn't really like it I could just sell it. That's not going to happen she's proven to be a really good vehicle, and done everything I asked. Including going through some of the worst storms we've had in a while without slipping, or a hiccup. In a year, or so Jeep will see me again for the 14GC. I like the mix, of sportiness, off road ability, durability, good looks, nice inside, maneuverability, parking, and so on. Either way I think they're both great vehicles although different, but you won't lose with either one. Enjoy your choice, and good luck.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

Hey guys, I thought you might be able to help... my father is actually ordering a 2013 Tahoe very soon. Best offers we are getting so far is $1100 under invoice including dealer fees. There is also a $1500 rebate he will be able to use. I am a bit shocked that we aren't finding better deals... I am getting $1750 under invoice on a 2014 JGC. I would think he could get even better than that on a 2013 Tahoe that is basically going to be at the end of the model year pretty soon.

Any thoughts? Does Chevy have a different pricing structure than Jeep, and therefore not as much negotiation room on invoice pricing?

He would probably be a whole lot better off buying a slightly used one. Right now there is no way i would trade mine in for a newer one bc nothing has changed since i got mine. I usually only keep my vehicles for about 2-3 years or till around 40-50,000 miles but it looks like I will have the suburban for at least 6 years bc of the length of time between updates. Right now i am at 60,000. Seriously, the only thing that I can think of that they have added to their SUVs since I bought my 09 in September 2008 is a USB plug in the center console. Nothing else has changed. Not even the GPS or radio and still no Bluetooth streaming audio.

Re: 2014 Tahoe vs JGC

Usually they have to throw a TON of cash on the hoods of those trucks to move them, and deals WAY under invoice are common on them. It's odd you can't get that sort of deal.

But PMD is correct, as long as you're looking at 09 or newer, they're almost 100% the same. I'd pick up a low mileage and clean CPO truck, save the massive depreciation hit, and put the rest of that money towards the massive fuel bills.

Isn't the $1,750 group buy pricing? Is your father ordering as part of a group buy?

The new '14 Silverado is hideous. Major design downgrade IMO. The new GMC Sierra isn't bad, though...

No hes not but he is basically ordering at the end of a model year. The deal im getting on the Jeep is a brand new model year. I just thought it was odd people were reporting 10% below on 2013 Jeeps but he can only get 3%. Maybe we arent close enough to the 2014 tahoes yet?
