Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

The CRD will probably have some sort of incentive like the V8 does now...with 1000 off if you want the v8

Official numbers (4x4) are:

V6: 17/24
V8: 14/20
CRD: 21/28

The start-up difference of 4000 dollars and the diesel fuel markup do not help the calculations.
The price difference you use between diesel and either regular unleaded, mid grade, or premium makes all the difference. Around here, there is about a $.40/gallon difference between regular unleaded and diesel, and $.30/gallon difference between mid grade and diesel.

If you use $.30/gallon difference instead of $.50/gallon, the numbers a quite a bit different.

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

I thought fuel economy for the 2014 4x4 is:

17/25 for V6
14/21 for V8
20/28 Diesel
13/19 SRT

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

I used the price difference between fuels in my area - of course it is not going to be relevant for everyone.
And yes, the price difference between V8 and diesel is just 2000 dollars. It is 4000 btn the diesel and the V6

The actual fuel economy matters very little - I may have used 30 mpg for diesel and 25 mpg for gas V6 on the highway. Fine it may be 28 and 24 respectively. We can have an academic exercise - and use the other numbers. It is only going to be worse for the diesel, because the relative difference in fuel economy just went down from 5 mpg to 4 mpg.

Why should I use a lesser price difference?
Those calculations reflect the Chicagoland area and might not be representative for everyone. I plan on putting regular, not mid grade, not premium because that is what the car needs. My other car is tuned for premium, 93 premium (not 91), so I don't intend to feed 2 cars with premium fuel. Besides in our area, price difference between gasoline grades in no longer the traditional 10 cents. If you see 4.12 $/gal regular...it is a safe bet that premium gas would be $4.50+

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

I never said you should use a lesser price difference; I was only pointing out that for areas where the price difference between diesel and unleaded is not as great--as is the case in my location--the difference in cost is not as severe.

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

Guys, let's not hijack this thread about this again. This has been discussed many times in the other threads. Prices will be different for everyone. Let's stay on topic as this is for TEST DRIVE Reviews, not pricing to justify the different engines.

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

My preferred dealer has a few 2014's on the lot and will be meeting with a sales rep tomorrow to see what I can do about ending my lease early. Depending on how well it goes, maybe I will take a test drive in a new 2014.
