Yep and again we are the same stupid topic. Make your own thread for the CRD vs V6 vs V8 battle. The CRD isn't out in the US/Canada yet so how can speculate what it is going to do.

In one of the reviews, it mentioned the urea tank is 8 gallons. Where did they put it? Do we still get a full size spare or what??

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

Not that I have seen. The best pictures I have seen are at Autospies.com, they actually took a lot of their own photos rather than using the stock photos you see everywhere else.

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

Thanks. Here's an interesting snippet from the Consumer Reports article:

Quote:
The new electric steering wins less praise, due to lackluster driver feedback. And some awkward shifts from the eight-speed hint that the Touareg TDI's drivetrain might be better calibrated. Perhaps there will be tweaks before production.
Regarding the electric steering part, I thought the 2011-2013s had this too, except for the V8. Also, I wonder if the transmission just hadn't "learned" from the driver yet.

The Infiniti doesn't really compare to the Jeep at all, I've had two JGC's in the past, 03 and 05, and this is my second Infiniti, 06 and 11. Two completely different beasts altogether. The Infiniti is a car for the "DINK" (Double Income No Kids) segment. We still do not have kids, but with any luck and a TON of trying that should change! The FX35 is best described as an Infiniti G coupe or Nissan Z with a backpack on. I think it's time to move on, and the technology in the Jeep cant be rivaled by anyone, except for perhaps a fully loaded ML350, but then I'm paying close to $65-70K for it.

As for trade, I have about 35K miles on it, and am hoping for about $30-31500.

I priced out a ML with similar features of the 14 Summit and it was just south of $80k MSRP!

Re: 2014 Test Drive Reviews

That was true before turbochargers and when diesels had giant flywheels but nowadaze there is little difference on rotating mass (more in stronger blocks).

Gas engines are fundamentally different from diesel - one uses a throttle plate to control capacity, the other uses fuel management instead of airflow control.

Inherant in the designs is that gasoline engines can operate over a much broader rev range for a given size than a diesel. However within its torque band, a diesel is much more efficient than a gas engine. Finally and partly since a diesel runs at detonation (compression ignition) anyway, it can handle a lot more boost than a gas engine.

(Personally have nothing against a boosted gas engine - above 20,000 feet that is.)

What we have here are modern (and outside the US there is a lot of experience) turbo diesels in the 2.0-3.0 liter range that have reached a level of development not (until recently) seen in the US. Nothing like your father's 6-71.

Was just watching Sabine take a 2.0 TD Jag around the ring in 9:17 and that was in 2004.

So modern diesels are a far cry even from the 2.4 TD in my RV & with a 3.45 axle can easily see a 3.0 TD outdragging a '14 Hemi to 60. Of course how often does 0-60 really matter anymore ? Last year I drove from Orlando to Franklin NC with only about 10 miles of TLB in the whole trip. Suspect in a 40-80 which is more important today, it would be a lot closer.
