If you keep car long time when you get above 100k or 125k miles I would ask service manager to replace trans fluid. I'm sure they will still have some type of trans service for high mileage vehicles. Lifetime for most people is 100k but those of us who go higher need to do what's needed.

Sounds good to me lol since its not a maintenance item.
Only reason I kind of homed in on this transmission thing is because I had a car that did not have a prescribed change interval but just to inspect and change if needed or something like that. As the car only required drain and fills for the tranny and not the whole drop the pan and change the filter mess, I did drain and fills regularly an easy 15 minutes every once in a while. Now that the transmissions on those cars are getting up there in the miles and most probably didn't change it they are failing right and left at an insane rate, class action suits being filed lots of angry people. The reason, seizing up of the shift solenoids in the valve body likely due to fouled fluid. Never had an issue with mine good as the day I bought it which I attributed to regular fluid changes.
Anyway I tend to agree with bill_de, ZF is a world class transmission manufacturer and if this is what they are saying then I will get out of the old school thought patterns

Guess I'm old school. Don't believe any mechanical part can go 200k or more without maintenance. Marketing people probably dream up stuff like no fluid change for lifetime....engineers probably cringe lol. I'll have the conversation with service and if they want to swear in writing then I'll go with the flow but color me skeptical.
