Re: 2014 V6 Eco Mode - How to default to off?!?

Its not just a little more pep, the vehicle is positively sluggish in eco mode.

I would want to shut it off every time.

Have to agree with SW03ES. Massive pain. I'm in sales and star and stop over 10 times a day. Should be in normal mode and if you want Eco, then push the button. The manuals show it as this way to do it. Wonder what changed?

I'm sure you would. But thinking that enough people will complain about it is, IMHO, a bit of a stretch. Look at how many people buy the 6 over the 8 for better MPG.

I'd buy the trailer tow group just to get rid of eco mode.
After receiving many complaints, BMW advised their dealers with a TSB that they can turn the stop/start feature off on the 5 series if a customer doesn't like it. Hopefully, but I doubt it, a Jeep dealer can also do it with their scan tool.

Seeing that its the topic of the thread, the eco button, I'm going to discuss the topic of the thread. If you don't want to read my posts, don't read them.

To reiterate, I don't dislike the 2014, I don't care for one of the many changes...well two if you count the eco button. You have to learn that its okay for people to have an voice opinions different from your own.

There ya go...see complaining does work.

I'm sure it can be defeated on the Jeep...and will be at some point.

Like I said, "No disrespect meant..." Have you lodged a formal complaint with Chrysler?

Re: 2014 V6 Eco Mode - How to default to off?!?

BMW was able to turn off start stop because it does not effect EPA milage ratings (the EPA cycle only includes one full stop and start).

Jeep will not disable the eco switch for you because it is against the EPA regs to allow a vehicle to default to different efficiency/peformance mode than the vehicle is tested on. I guarantee you Jeep is not willing to take lower MPG numbers to appease the few who complain about this.

I was initially annoyed about this same situation on my Audi, and I complained to Audi corporate and when I eventually got to someone who knew what they were talking about they told me the above information; they were also nice enough to "suggest" that I google an "unauthorized" solution.

The best hope for the Jeep would be for someone to get into the vehicle settings and see if it can be changed. A good test of the possibility of this will be to see if the Foreign vehicles or the SRT retain the mode they were in or default to ECO off.

I don't own the vehicle, why would I do that? Owners need to speak up to Chrysler.

Actually, this is not the case. We've discussed this on the Lexus forums because of Lexus' Eco mode. Lexus' EPA figures are inclusive of Eco mode because once Eco mode is activated it defaults to Eco mode until the user turns Eco mode off.

So, they could make it so it would continually default to Eco mode until the driver turned Eco mode off and then it would default to normal until Eco mode was reactivated and not run afoul of the EPA.

It would have been better to offer an option to disable for a period of time where it prompts you to re enable it after 3-7 days

Re: 2014 V6 Eco Mode - How to default to off?!?

Totally agree. They should have done away with the ECO mode button altogether. It is silly. They should just made the ECO mode default (as is now) and if you wanted more "zest" from the engine you would have to drop it in sport mode (just like you do now). Just no button.

Re: 2014 V6 Eco Mode - How to default to off?!?

But how would those with no select terrain get economy off? I agree, default to off with sport mode would make sense, but, why is twirling a knob better than pressing a button? I guess you must be a man!!!
