2014 V6 Overland or 2014 V8 Limited

Assuming purchase price is equal: a 2014 V6 Overland or a 2014 V8 Limited. Assuming purchase of MaxCare lifetime warranty. Which would you pick and why?

How is the Limited equipped? A maxed-out Limited is pretty much only cosmetically different from an Overland (the HK sound system being a notable exception to that).

Hmm good question. I'd sayfor the limited - moonroof, non-tech package, 20" wheels, no QL.

Re: 2014 V6 Overland or 2014 V8 Limited

Lots of questions that boil down to YHTBT. Condition? Mileage? Colors you like? Do you really want/need the V8? Etc.

I take it they're both 4x4?

Thanks. I was just wondering what other people would choose. Assuming both same mileage, same cost, etc.

I'm debating between the V6 and V8. I had the 5.7 in my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 QC and loved it but that was 13 years ago. I now commute 60 miles round trip to/from Boston each day. I love the sound of V8 but addicted to the fuel economy of my current VW TDI. The TDI needs to go (is being bought back) and I want back into an SUV. I spend 22k miles in my car each year and often travel long distances to clients.

Just wondering if all the bells and whistles of the Overland are worth it. Yes both 4x4

So, basically V8 or V6 for the same price point?

Comes down to driving (is the power worth it) and towing - the niceties of the OL (QL, leather, lights, nav) may offset the minimal gains in 0-60 (so I've read, but haven't driven the hemi)

If you want MPG, hold out for an ECOdiesel

Yes absolutely. Just wondering what the differences are between the models and whether the features are worth it. I am aware of the pros & cons of QL but with the MaxCare I'm not worried about the cost to repair.

I'm done with diesels in the US. They are so finicky given the complexity of DPF & EGR systems. If I lived in a state without emissions testing I'd tune and remove the emissions equipment in a heartbeat. I had my DPF and EGR replaced on my VW TDI to the tune of $4k. Luckily I got VW of America to cover it.

Overland. The V6 is actually quite snappy and if you drive that far every day, you'll appreciate getting 21-24mpg. I love the air ride suspension of the Overland too.

Re: 2014 V6 Overland or 2014 V8 Limited

There's a good thread on V8 vs. V6 but admittedly I couldn't find it on a quick search. Worth digging for though.

Build date is a consideration for 2014's. Early V6 builds were prone to transmission issues, for example.

Hate to say it but you'll almost certainly get a better answer on this by digging through the many and varied forum discussions yourself than you will from the few self-selected answers you will get to this question.

Re: 2014 V6 Overland or 2014 V8 Limited

It's certainly going to be a personal preference for the trade-offs - I'd recommend driving both to make the comparison yourself - the forum isn't going to sway your own butt dyno or whether the seat piping and leather dash will change your world.

For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

The V6 has 'enough' power for day to day. When looking, I had my heart set on a RRS and drove both the NA V8 and Supercharged - the power is definitely addictive, but could have been a lot more expensive (purchase price + speeding tickets)

Re: 2014 V6 Overland or 2014 V8 Limited

I've had both and I would never go back to a V6, QL and interior aesthetics are not a good trade off for available power and capability particularly on long hwy hauls. Best of luck.
