Re: 2014 V6 owners - how do you like it?

Finally took delivery yesterday and was able to play around with V6. To be honest you can always use more power. If money was no issue I would probably go with CRD (nah .. no V8 for me, don't like it).

V6 feels OK, just OK. This is not a sports car guys. Cruising on the highway the car feels like a freaking tank and I think given that V6 is good enough. Sports mode makes HUGE difference in around town. Transmission is much more aggressive, you can see big difference. Again this is not a BMW.

So far happy with my decision.

I am very happy with the V6 in my overland. Eco mode can be annoying when it's shifting into 4th gear at 20 mph during easy acceleration, but pulling back on the electronic shifter to change to sport mode is very rewarding. Unless you are doing some major towing I think the V6 is plenty despite the annoying Eco mode.

That's the sore point with the Hemi as well.

Re: 2014 V6 owners - how do you like it?

I Can't tell you how many times I've told my wife how much I love our new GC and we've only had it a couple weeks. Only vehicle I've had that was more enjoyable as a daily driver was my '08 VW R32, which was AWD and had a dual clutch gear box. The GC is actually a little quicker off the line though. I will agree that eco mode kills performance, but a quick flip of the shifter changes that in a hurry. Paddle shift only adds more fun to the driving experience. It may not be a sports car, but it's very enjoyable behind the wheel. Having a moderately built '11 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon on 37s, I now have the best of both worlds.

How do you like your 2014 V6 though?

Re: 2014 V6 owners - how do you like it?

I picked up my 2014 Laredo V6 4x4 last week. I think the engine is a good match for this vehicle. I have had 4 Grand Cherokees before this one, and they were all v8s. The 2014 v6 would be perfect with another 40-60 pounds of torque but the new 8 speed does make it very responsive. Its a smooth driving vehicle that has enough power in reserve to pass and climb hills without issue.

I'm not saying that this will make up that difference by any means. But maybe something that a CAI and a Borla exhaust (or other exhaust) could contribute to give a bit more torque. What you think?
