Re: 2014 V6 owners - how do you like it?

I just ordered a v6 summit as I live in Arizona and after 4 previous 4x4 suv's I have not once used it. I will miss the cool rover like raising and lowering ( which sold me on an 06 rover sport) but the extra gas mileage and savings will counter it.

Just bumping this thread to see if more members want to chime in. Anyone wish they have had a V8?
Thus far, I've been seriously delighted. No V8 necessary for me. And I can tell a major difference between my 2014 V6 Limited 4x4 and the 2013 that I test-drove. I'm coming from > 300 horses in my Infiniti G, a ridiculously fun to drive car. The Jeep can't compare in that regard and I expected a real letdown during this transition after driving the 2013 but I'm loving the 2014. I've had no issues keeping up on the turnpike and riding so high is amazing. I'm well above the other SUVs and trucks even! I am noticing a few jumps in the transmission at low/no speed but I expect that to smooth out over the breakin period as others have noted.

I've only had mine few days so it's really too early to tell too much. I'll chime back in after this weekend's getaway.

Overall I'm happy with the V6 so far. Easily on par with my Acura MDX on power. I don't tow, and spend good amount of time on the highway - feel ill get the most out of the V6.

Oh gee, in the shop, what for?

Coming from the 2011 overland v8 I do miss the Hemi with Volant CAI ... But I am pleased with the '14 overland v6 for the most part. Like everyone else stated the Eco mode is sluggish / i just added changing to sport mode to my normal start up process.

The new stub shifter or whatever we have - takes some getting used to. I can't tell you how many times I've gone from park to neutral thinking I'm in drive. And same with parallel parking / just by nature I don't normally look at what gear I'm in when my head is turned - and ill go from drive to park not reverse. Just a learning curve.

Otherwise it rides smooth (sport mode really downshifts harsh sometimes) but I kinda like the manual feel to it. And all the other new features are a huge step forward from the 2011. Enjoy.

I don't know , so if I'm understanding correct the jeep starts up in ECONO mode unless you change shifter?
I'm researching and hoping to get a Limited sometime this year as my current drive has 180+ K on it. 2000 Explorer Limited V-8...so I am following this thread seeing the comments valuable for my engine decision.
Thanks all

Eco mode is on every time you start the engine, it is shut off with a button on the center console, sport mode is activated and deactivated through the shifter.

I traded my 2011 V6 Overland for the 2014 V6 Overland. Its a lot quicker, smoother and feels tighter. The GPS is a lot better and the sound is better. I am very happy I made the switch!

Re: 2014 V6 owners - how do you like it?

I came from a 2012 overland with the hemi, got hit head on and totalled, and just picked up the 14 limited v6 on thursday. I was very surprised when I drove it and couldn't believe I was going to get a v6 after having the hemi. Only have 223 on the clock but and impressed so far. I do miss the quickness but its the wife's car and my ram has the hemi so I will get over it.

Apple and oranges! The Maxima V6 is designed to run best on premium gas. The Pentastar is designed to run on 87 octane. The Pentastar does not develope the higher cylinder pressures needed to take advantage of the properties of slower burning high octane gas.

A maxima doesnt carry as much weight as a gc either.
