Remember that on the 2014 you have to TURN OFF eco mode. I drove the 2014 V6 and power is pretty effortless in all situations. Your description reminds me of how the vehicle drove in eco mode.
On the 2014 V8, I don't have to take it out of ECO Mode. You shouldn't have to take a car out of ECO mode to enjoy it in regular conditions.

A lot of people don't on the V6. And for those that do feel the need feel it's a bug. It's not because the engine lacks enough power.

And there are folks that take the V8 out of Eco mode too. Perhaps not as many. Because I'm sure the "excess" HP helps cover up the lack of programming skills.

I can just base it on driving the V6 everyday since April and what the magazines show as passing times on the old Hemi. Based on that, it had no sweet spot. If it did, it was just a small spot that no one could find. The V6 8spd has no problem passing anything. Not sure what you where driving. Maybe you left the brake on. The only way to prove it is to have a '13 or older Hemi line up against the new V6. I'm pretty sure they will have their tail between their legs quickly.

I drove both the 2014 V6 and the 2014 V8 and found they both felt like dogs in eco mode. If your feelings about how the V6 drove were with it in eco mode its not a fair comparison. To me they feel like completely different vehicles in eco mode and not.

How does this thread keep going? The '14 v6 is not as fast as the '11-'14 v8 period. The very fastest 0-60 for the '14 v6 is 7.5 the '11 v8 is 6.9. It doesn't matter how much better geared the '14 v6 is it does make up for 70 HP and 130 ft lbs in a vehicle that weighs the same. If you think otherwise line it up and video tape it. The v6 is a great motor paired with a great tranny no doubt but it just isn't as fast.

The '11 V8 never saw 6.9. I'm not counting what someone's tuner computer told them they did. I'm looking at road tests from magazines. Do some more research. Time to go trade in your Hemi for a new one.

Let me get this straight. You think a vehicle that is down 70 HP and 130 ft lbs with the same rear end ratio that weighs the roughly the same would be quicker?

Here is a fine publication posting a 0-60 time for a v6 2011 Grand Cherokee

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4dr 4x4 Overview

2011: 0-60: 6.1 seconds

http://autos.aol.com/cars-Jeep-Grand..._4x4/overview/

2014: 0-60 6.4 seconds

Would you say these publications are gospel? Because by this publication the 2011 v6 was actually faster than the 2014.

Not sure why you lumped the '14 V8 in with the '11 to '13 V8s. The '14 V8 is quite a bit quicker.

Fine publication? LOL, seriously? AOL? That's like saying Car & Driver is a fine publication for cooking.

What would be really useful is if someone posted a link to a '13 V8 that shows instrumented testing...you know, like Car and Driver or maybe Motor Trend.

Nobody does 0-60 runs in their daily commute. We're talking about how the Jeep feels driving around day to day.

I don't have a 2011 V8, mine's a 6. All I can tell you my neighbor had a 2011 V6...he traded it on a 2012 V8 because the 2011 was too lethargic. He just traded the 2012 V8 in on a 2014 V6 with the 8 speed. When I asked him if he missed the V8 he said the 2014 6 felt better around town than his 2012 V8, and that this Jeep was finally the Jeep he wanted. Remember...this guy got killed trading the 2011 6 in because of the motor.

(Motor Trend)
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs. 2010 Land Rover LR4 - Comparison - Motor Trend

2011 v8 0-60: 7.3

(Motorweek)

2014 v6 0-60: 8.3

They aren't the same publication but I couldn't quickly find a 2011-2013 v8 from Motorweek and I couldn't find a 2014 v6 for Motor Trend. Motor Trend seems to be more interested in the diesel for the 2014. Although, I think you can assume the times will be similar between the Motor Trend and Motorweek.

That laughing smiley generally indicates sarcasm btw. The times posted by AOL are silly.
