2014 Wind Deflector

Just an FYI for people looking to purchase the wind shield from Jeep for a 2014. I had this on my 2012 and all was fine, no extra noise or anything. Installed on the 2014 today and it gives a crazy whistle noise at any speed over 50mph. Not sure I'm going to keep it on or not.

The accessory catalog does say they are the same part but I'm wondering if they did no testing because the hood didn't change. There must be something different in how the new fascia throws wind up over the top on the new model though. Tested on and off a few times just to be sure and installed the same way I did on the 2012.

I'd be super pissed if I paid for a brand new one, but since I got some use on the 2012 I'm ok with it I suppose. But if you are buying new for a 14 be warned...

Re: 2014 Wind Deflector

Has anyone else had the same experience with the 2014 deflector? I would like to get the deflector but not if it makes noise.

That's nice of the dealer to do that but that's least he could've done to keep a customer.

Re: 2014 Wind Deflector

Hey I just installed on 2014 SRT. Screws are exposed on top of deflector. Did I do something wrong on install or is that the way it is? Seems pretty cheesy.

Think you did something wrong, no exposed screws on mine unless you open the hood.

BTW no whistling noise on my 2014 with the black deflector.

Did you install the Mopar one? I had the chrome one on my 2011 and it looked good with all the chrome on the Jeep. Haven't seen the black on the 2014. I would think it would look better than chrome.

Re: 2014 Wind Deflector

Yes, mopar one. I like the way it looks and more importantly how it works. I do miss seeing the 'JEEP' on the hood though.

And now that I look at the photos, yes my screws are exposed. But they're black so I never really notice them. Sorry.

Re: 2014 Wind Deflector

I installed the Mopar Jeep chrome wind deflector on my 2014 this past summer and have had no noise issues.

Re: 2014 Wind Deflector

Why do you even get these things? They don't really do anything do they?

Yes. They actually do protect the leading edge of the hood from rock chips and bug guts. Some people go a bit further and get the clear 3M plastic film.

They don't do anything exiting or sexy, they are just cheap basic protection for your hood.
