Humm, interesting, I think the HK stereo sounds incredible! You sure you have your eq set, surround on, and using a quality source? Not saying there cant be better stereos, but there is no way another one "blows it away". Sometimes the bass hits so hard my vision actually vibrates lol, and the highs are so crisp.
FWIW, prior to purchasing my 2015 HA (coming from a 2014 Summit with HK), I test drove an HA without HK and within 2 minutes of driving I knew I had to have the HK again...very noticeable difference! Worth the price to me for sure!

The upgrade price is nothing. Like $800, big deal. And I'm not sure what year your 5 series was, but currently there is the same, if not more of an upgrade price on all BMWs for HK sound.

Love my HK system. Best I have ever heard. Then again I thought my Alpine in my Rubicon was awesome, but with 19 speakers the HK is incredible to me.

My comment regarding the upgrade price was here in Canada (you need to read what I quoted...). For us it is a $2K upgrade. Considering exchange rate it should be about half that. So in Canada the upgrade is double the cost in the US.

As for blowing it away, that may be a bit of a stretch, but it is a noticable difference. Go sit in a new 5 or 6 Series and have a listen. Bass and treble are both way better and clearer. Whether on FM/Sat/BT/USB (I flip between all of them in both vehicles). And I have both systems with eq flat and surround on for the guy that asked that question. One of the big problems with the Jeep is the buzzing from panels if you turn the volume way up. That doesn't happen in the BMW.

The person that mentioned I paid for it elsewhere, totally right lol

And don't get me wrong, the HK system in the GC is really good and way better than what is available in many competitors. I was just "pissed" as I said because I can see that the guys in the US pay less then half for the same system.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

I realize that everyone's ears are different and everyone has a preference on EQ settings, but I really think you should adjust it a bit as it really does not sound good all flat. Again, I know everyone's ears are different but here is how I have my HK settings: bass = 3 notches below middle, mid = 2 notches above middle, treble = all the way up.

So far no rattling on my 2015 at any volume. Hope it stays that way lol.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Got my leather armrest installed today. Much nicer. The write up sheet still said nothing about the material being vinyl - even thou the tag on the hinge said so - it just stated not the right color stitching. I had a chance to pull it back off - the dealer wouldn't let me do the install - and this one says Lthr. It took 45 minutes for them to do the swap. It took me 5 minutes.

Thanks JTS97Z28 for catching this.

Here is my write up sheet.

I do not have a CD player.

I think the CD player console lid is different. Mine has 2 buttons on the front of the lid, one for top section of console, other for full access. The CD player, I think, fills the whole console.

Pretty sure it matters. You'll want one that holds the CD player. It will be a different part and part #.

That's what I thinking. Yours should only have one button to open the console.

I had to go to two different dealers to finally get mine swapped.

My HA is at the dealer as we speak getting oiled changed and told my advisor(who is amazing btw) about the mismatch. He said he would take care of it. I said you're probably going to have to take pictures and send them to Chrysler and he said no, I will just get it replaced. We will see..
