Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

On the HK system where are all 19 speakers, I only counted 13. 3 in each front door. 2 in each rear door and 3 in the rear. I'm assuming the bigger speakers in the doors have more than one.

Don't forget the center channel on the dash, the subwoofer in the back panel.

Can you post a picture of your white stitching with leather armrest?

What's the part number for the one they gave you?

I'm not sure what the part number is for the new one. The service tech showed me the new one loose and I could see it wasn't stamped with the word "vinyl" or anything, but I didn't have time to examine or write down the part numbers. Picture of the one they put in is shown. It's hard to tell from the picture but this one feels more like leather and is more squared off versus the original one, which did feel and look more like vinyl and was more rounded off. Still looks silly with all the black stitching everywhere else, so I'll keep at it until I get the one I want. Maybe they don't make a black stitched one because I have the CD player under the armrest, that's the only other thing I can think of.

I don't have the CD player but I'm not sure what difference having the CD player would make that would alter the arm rest.

Looking at your pic, this looks exactly like the arm rest I had in my 14 Overland... it matched the white stitching I had throughout that vehicle. The same with the very smooth, almost non-existent texture of the material.

The arm rest with black stitching being discussed here has a very noticeable pebble-like grain texture to the leather and to me, looks more fake than real. In a way that's kind of weird because it doesn't match the texture of the leather on the seats, whereas the white stitched one you have does... LOL.

Well the CD player changes the configuration of the armrest. I don't have the double bin compartment like people with non-CD players have. I only have 1 button that opens up the entire armrest to reveal the CD player and a tiny storage compartment. My understanding is people with non-CD player have a 2nd compartment stored in between. People with the CD player loose that second storage area.

I know exactly what you mean, the "new" armrest I can see wrinkles in the back corners which would suggest it is leather as vinyl doesn't wrinkle and as you stated matches the seat leather versus the grainy texture of the black stitched one.

Either way it's not a big deal as I'm glad to be rid of the cheap vinyl one, but the black stitching would just look better overall, not that anyone would ever notice other then a handful of people from these forums lol

They definitely make a black stitched leather center armrest for the CD player. Every black interior Summit with CD player has black stitched leather, and the High Altitude is supposed to as well.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Hey Jeepguy, if you have a few minutes see if you can post a closeup shot so I can see the texture of the material better. Based off that picture I'm not so sure even that one is real leather. After a search of new Grand Cherokee I did not see a single car that has the real leather with white stitching. That lid is in black interior Overlands and SRT, and even the SRT with black interior seems to have the vinyl one. This is really bizarre lol.
It seems that the only black lid that has real leather is the black stitched Summit lid found in Summit and new High Altitudes.
You are right though, the real leather lid is for sure more squared off compared to the vinyl one which seems to have more offing and is rounded. Maybe yours has the real leather, but if it does I have yet to see a black with white stitching lid that has the real leather. Either way I will be able to tell right away if I can see the texture.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

There's no texture that I can see when opening the pic full size... it looks exactly like the one in my 14 Overland.
