From what I can remember, if you use the rubber receiver cover, the bumper cover doesn't fix. I left mine in the spare tire tray.

That would make sense for the Summit/HA, but then again, you really don't need the rubber cover if you're using the bumper insert. I'm actually appreciative of the rubber cover for keeping dirt and other things somewhat at bay within the receiver opening. Doesn't look bad, either, with Jeep designation embossed on it...subtle enough for many "debadgers" I suspect.

It does not allow the bumper cover with the receiver cover on. Obviously, it looks better with the bumper cover in place, but, if you're going to use the hitch often, I would use the receiver cover.

However, he said that this should have been reported as a "shortage of error" after delivery, to which I replied, well how would anyone have known. So, he's going to call Chrysler and figure out how he can get reimbursed by them since it's been 10 months since the car was delivered to me.

Seems like I'm in for an ordeal :S
About to hit the 2 week mark and no call back from the service manager.

Great service when you buy a 55k truck!

He really seemed like he had no interest in fixing this for me.

I personally had no difficulty when I presented the window sticker, build sheets from FCA, etc. They specify "Leather Center Arm Rest with Black Stitching". The service advisor took photos and sent them somewhere for approval. I don't know where. Upon removal of the wrong unit, there is a label on the bottom of the hinge stating Vinyl. It seems that some of us have had it replaced with no difficulty.... Others experienced what you are going through. Hang tough. Don't let them beat you. You're entitled to the correct one.

You're covered by warranty for 12 months for things like this.

No, that's not really something supported. With a third party tuner like Diablo, you can do some alteration of engine/transmission things (may be limited to V8...I don't recall), but otherwise...the system is closed.

Re: 2015-2016 High Altitude Owners Thread

So ...... My fears are not unfounded! The dealer got in a replacement left fender wheel well trim, painted it to match, told me it shouldn't take much more than an hour so I put back the stock lowering links, brought in my HA and waited..... And waited... And waited! The body shop had mucho trouble and ended up trashing the replacement. Then re-attached the original with wider and thicker two sided tape. It is properly aligned but not flush with the fender, showing a gap and the black from the tape. Not so nice on a white car. Oops. I should mention that there are also scrapes and gouges along the edges. The body guy didn't even mention this but it was so obvious to me. I'm not so happy. They are ordering another replacement. I regret opening this can of worms in the first place, but i wasn't comfortable with what I considered an eye sore on such a nice ride. I have to continue this pursuit now since, with their damaging it, it's worse than before. Man, this sucks!

Re: 2015-2016 High Altitude Owners Thread

I just purchased a 2016 Overland High Altitude. As you may know this has the Summit lower facia and lacks the regular overland tow hooks and or lower facia pop outs.

What it does have is a passenger side (right side) pop out access door that lines up with the tow hook mounting points. It was placed there to have the Euro type tow eye mount accessible. Those parts are not however included on the delivered car but can be ordered.

I have been working with a fabricator that sells a set of tow ring recovery points for the Grand Cherokee WK2. I have spoken to him about the unique situation with the Summit and High Altitude lower facia. He sent me one of his current rings and we have been reverse engineering a solution for the summit and High Altitude.

After working on dimensions. He is prepared to laser cut a steel front recovery point that will mount and fit partially out of the front access door. It will be designed to protrude forward a small bit as not to damage the lower front facia should it need to be used.

This is a link to his product page on Amazon, Others on the forum have used his parts which are similar to Chief Products of Australia.

Amazon sales page for the standard existing tow points; https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Cheroke...179410&sr=1-14

Included in this post are basic sketches of the design as a work in progress.

The design is for a straighter tow ring with a ring diameter and taper that places it just in front of the lower facia. The ring is steel and would be had in steel to be painted individually, or a Stainless Steel version would be available as is with his other tow rings.

Goal of final would be for a ring front recovery point that is strong enough and not require cutting of the plastic. It will be either steel unfinished able to be painted or Stainless polished.

If you have interest, please reply and I will pass the interest level on to him. It will certainly make the work he is putting into the fabrication worth while if others buy from him.

Pictures in order
#1 Original Tow ring that does not fit access door
#2 Dimensions of depth from access door opening to rear mount point
#3 Dimensions opening diameter of access door
#4 Drawing of proposed tow ring front recovery point to be fabricated.
