Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Got bored last night and painted the front grill and grill rings gloss black with lots of clear coat on top of it. I was pretty nervous doing this myself but I spent about 3 hours taping everything off before I even started painting and it came out flawless, I was expecting a few mistakes and was shocked not to find any. Still need to do the chrome trim around the windows with 3M gloss black wrap.

Wow. Did you take out the grill and paint it or just taped it off intact? Take some close up pics! Looks good.

Thank you. Kind of what I'm going for. It's not a SRT of course but at least it kind of looks like one.

No I released the grill enough to loosen it up to get lots of tape and paper around and behind the grill. I wasn't even going to paint it unless I was confident that everything was taped off enough but after 3 hours of masking it off I went for it. Used one can of dupli color gloss black enamel and one bottle of clear coat. Took about 5 hours total job. I keep going over and over to try and find some mistakes but so far it's flawless. I'll post some close ups here shortly.

Your Jeep looks great! As far as the window trim wrap....good luck. I purchased some wrap and messed with it last night and although the job is doable, its going to be far from perfect. There are just way too many curves and properly trimming the vinyl without scratching your car is always a concern. I cant even see a professional doing this perfectly, or atleast to my standard. I just said screw it and ripped it all off. If you aren't super picky anal like me then I'm sure you would be fine though. You'll see what I'm talking about

Thanks y'all. And yeah my wife and I both noticed the heated seats produced less heat than our Murano or Mustang. On the Murano, the heat would fade away either quickly or slowly depending on the ambient temp. Made me wonder if the Jeep was doing something similar. I haven't been in really cold weather with it yet. But from the sound of it on this thread, the High Altitude is behaving differently than other Grand Cherokees. Hmmm...

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Thanks for the info. I am pretty anal and if it's not perfect than I'm not going to like it. They make it look easy in the YouTube videos Based off your reply I think I'm going to pay a professional to do it. I want to do it myself but I get the feeling I will end up screwing it up. I'll keep you posted.
