Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

It doesn't appear they gave it any real thought before implementing the chrome processing.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

I just think they were trying to add a little more of an elegant look over the reg altitude, besides all the added features

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Honestly the only reason why I want the HA and not getting another altitude is the front bumper and air suspension...its a shame we can't customize these things more...haha

Same here! The wheels on the current HA are the same ones from my old 2011 Overland but painted gloss black. I went back and compared pics to ensure I wasn't seeing things. Another reason I'm thinking of holding out for a 17 to see if they make any updates to these two areas.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

I much prefer the HA wheels to the Altitude wheels. Not happy with the trivalent chrome though.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

On a lighter note.... I've read at least 25 posts re: lug nut torque specs, everywhere from 85 ft lbs to 150. The owners manual states 130, but some say that's a misprint. The service manual states something less. What would you do?

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Went to the Chicago autoshow today. Took a couple closeup pics of the factory gloss black window trim. Looks amazing! It appears the 2016 75th Anniversary model has the black trim as well. For sure a must get for my HA. I also really like the new Velvet color as well. Infact at the dealership earlier today I saw the old red parked right next to velvet and it's definitely different old red is much brighter.

I don't think you're understanding the Trivalent chrome. It looks completely different depending on the outside lighting conditions. I have seen the Trivalent chrome on my '15 HA look everything from almost bright chrome, to extremely dark chrome (almost completely black), to dark chrome, to almost bronzish depending on the outside lighting.
In sunny conditions the chrome looks the darkest or most black. On cloudy days it looks like a lighter shade of dark chrome, on gloomy or rainy days is when it starts to get the slight bronze tinge to it. I also found that on darker colors like granite or black it gets more of the bronze shade to it because the lack on contrast. On white it almost never appears bronze. I suppose I could be wrong, but I really do not think they changed anything for the 2016 HA. I saw one in person today and noticed no differences whatsoever. IMO thats a good thing though, the dark chrome looks awesome!!

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

If you look at the fog lights, you will see that this is a photo of the SRT. This is not a High Altitude. As far as the trim.....This might be a special custom job just for the show.
