Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

thanks everybody for sharing everything in this thread. i am inspired now to get some mods done to my HA. first im gonna start with getting the chrome windows vinyl wrapped. will getting a car wash 2-3 times a week effect the wraps durability? also if i were to get the 1.25 bora spacers, does that have any effect on highway driving at 80 mph daily? also should i go with gorilla lug nuts or gorilla lock lug nuts and whats the difference? what color paint should i use if i were to paint the calipers red and will the paint last forever? thanks for the answers in advance, i figure i start with these mods and take it from there

May ask why you would wash your truck 2-3 times a week? Perhaps 2-3 a month. No issues with vinyl wrap. Light scrub around the trim when washing.

I return the bora spacers it made my wheels look thin from the back.

I went with McGard lugs, they are a little more pricier (not much) than gorilla. Main reason gorilla doesn't fill the edges.

Lock lugs vs lugs ... Well locks are theft prevention and require a key socket... Traditional lugs do not. From factory you should have 4 locks, one for each wheel. Use this same concept.

Size : 22mm

You can paint your calipers they don't last forever. Depends on how much brake dust gets stuck or how well the paint took hold... (Prep work)
Estimate is 2 years without major chipping and less than 4 for retouch

I went with McGard lugs and locks. Reasons: Made in USA. Black chrome looks good. The only one I found using 22mm socket, same as oem lugs and oem lug wrench. Well worth additional cost.
After installing lowering links, I opted out of using spacers. Lowered looks great without spacers.
Imo, 2-3 weekly machine car washes is a scary thought. I won't put any of my cars through automated wash. Recycled water, harsh detergent, very fine swirl marks and scrstches, horror stories of damage including front air dam getting ripped off my Audi some years ago.

They have puddle lights on Amazon/eBay for basically any model car, super hero, sports team etc. They typically require some cutting into the bottom of the door frame or into the plastic cup holders/trim and tapping into the lighting down there. Pretty easy install, but not keen on cutting into my doors for that personally. As for a direct replacement to the ones on the mirrors of the HA - maybe somewhere down the line, the model is still in its early stages.

just ordered the mcgard nuts & locks. also with the lowering links, would the drive still be the same at 80mph driving? i do take alot of road trips and just wondering if it can handle the distance and speed lowered? yeh i guess 2-3 times a week thru the automated wash is not good but i live in a apt with no water hose hookup so i kinda have no choice unless i want to dish out more money for a hand wash everytime

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

by any chance for those who have the bora 1.25" spacers, would you be able to take some pics from the back of the car so i can get an idea of how it would look cause everybody is saying the wheels are too thin? i just want to make sure before i purchase the spacers i know what im looking at so i can determine whether i like it or not

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

So far my HA has been great. However there are some small annoying QC issues, like this rear hatch encasement. It was put on crooked. Amazing how something like this can be overlooked. Anyway, does anyone out there know if this is an easy fix, or something that a dealer can remove and put back level?

Nah that's just me that was saying that lol. I had the spacers on for a few days and couldn't get used to the look. IMO it needed the wider SRT wheels/tires for the best look. A lot of guys here like the look though, it's all just personal preference. The idea of 40 lug nuts holding my wheels on didn't thrill me either lol.

I haven't messed with that, but I'm sure it's a simple fix. Just pop off the rear liftgate interior panel and it should be easily accessible and you can probably loosen and straighten it from there. That panel is fairly easy to remove. Starting at the top corners, reach your fingers between the gap of the plastic panel and the rear glass and pull out. All the pins will pop and it comes right out. Unplug the wires going into the lights and that's all. To reinstall start by lining up the pins at the top first and eventually push them all in and they will pop right in. Just be sure they are all lined up otherwise it won't be seated correctly.
