Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

So what is everyone saying about the center console? It should have black stitching?

My '15 HA has white colored stitching on the console.

No offense, but why is it becoming a PITA? I went to a dealership, took all of 7 minutes and I was on my way and he said he will be in touch. Infact it couldn't be any easier. I am confident they will get me the part I need.

Well they all have real leather and black stitching now (same as the summit). The window sticker says leather wrapped and black stitching. So I'm thinking that they either didn't have the right ones available when building some HAs, or some other error, but I feel the white/silver stitched vinyl console is absolutely not the correct one and so far my dealer seems to agree. We shall see.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Wow I cannot believe they just stuck a random replacement in all of the (or most of the) 2015 HAs! That is really odd... And a seriously good catch James. It didn't ever seem right from the beginning as I was very interested in the HA.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Went to try to pop in some LED interior bulbs I had from my '15 Limited. All look like they will pop right into the '16 HA - save these lights over the rear doors/seats.

They seem to be connected as one unit and don't look like you can replace just the bulb, seems the bulb is directly attached to a circuit board... Almost like the LED license plate lights in the rear or dome/map lights up front. Held off the install for now as to now have a completely mismatched interior. Has anyone tried to replace all the interior bulbs with aftermarket LED ones in the HA?

On a side note - the interior trim around the sunroof is held together/in place by velcro...

This problem also carried over into the 2016 HA's. The one my dealer swapped to get mine had the white stitching on the console.

Even though I don't know for sure, I'm willing to bet the new 2016 rear map lights are the exact same LED chips they use in the front two map lights. Unfortunately they aren't exactly easy to change, but it can be done. I have a write up on how to change the two front factory LEDs. It takes a steady hand and soldering gun skills. If you don't have that then I would not attempt to change them. You'll just have to live with the stock yellowish interior lights.
Might be worth a look though maybe it's not as difficult as the fronts. The front LEDs have insanely tiny and thin ribbon cable and that's what hard to work with. Maybe the rear ones use more traditional wire that would make the job much easier. Superbrightleds sell really nice natural white LEDs that I used for my interior, as well as a single LED chip with double sided tape on the back and ore-wired which is what I used for the front two LEDs. Those are what will work nicely for you on the rears.

I saw your write up before and it was awesome! Thanks for putting that together. After reading through it, I opted to not trial it with my Limited at the time and I'm not sure tI'm up to snuff to do it now- don't really trust myself haha. Probably going to leave them stock at this time until I get a bit more brave to start messing with the wiring.

No offense taken. I was just adding a bit of humor, or maybe not. In fact, I'm grateful for your bringing it to my attention. I though this was something I was stuck with until doing a bit more research to learn that the wrong part was installed in my HA. The leather one is so much more appropriate. So far, it appears the dealer will do the right thing. Please don't be too sensitive. I, along with many others, I believe, are fortunate to have owners like you that share a wealth of information on the Grand Cherokee. Having never owned a Jeep until now, I know very little about the car. Just following this forum has been great. It has become a sort of Grand Cherokee bible for me.

I have the silver stitching on my 2015 HA. I removed the hinge cover and the part number appears to be for the hinge cover itself not the console.

That's not where you are supposed to be looking. The label you took a picture of appears to just be the plastic cover you popped off. You need to remove that, then remove the 3 screws holding the arm rest on. The label that says "vinyl" is under that. It also has a set of numbers but they are not part numbers for the console lid. Its very simple to remove and re-install the arm rest lid.

See above for the correct lid part number that should have been installed in our High Altitudes.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

i'll add, since i was confused - you want to remove the armrest AND hinges, label is under there. if you remove the armrest from the hinge, you won't get what you want.
