In having similar issues. Did they say they would fix it though? It can't get worse.

How do you plan to reinforce it? More double sided tape? Or actually have it like glued on?

The dealer offered to replace it. If I knew how, I would rather repair it myself. I just don't know if there is an appropriate adhesive and how I would apply it. Obviously, that piece should lie flat and flush.

Scottina06 knows what kind of tape to get and how to fix it yourself so you might pm him.

I would not have new painted part done by a dealer, odds are the paint won't match.

It's generally a 3m style double sided trim tape. It's all in the prep, I've had factory and adtermarket flares on my past trucks and this has been what's underneath.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Here is another odd one. A few times in recent months, the anti crash collision mitigation system seems to have gone overly sensitive. With no vehicle or object in close proximity, the warnings beeped and the brakes automatically applied briefly. It shocked the s--t out of me till I realized what was happening. Has anyone experienced this? I've had it happen when someone cut right in front of me and thought that was normal. If it decides to activate when there is no imminent danger, I might just turn it off, though it is something I would rather keep on to do what it is intended to do. It is worse on my wife's Mercedes. Every so often, that one alerts when she turns a corner with nobody in front of her. The brakes don't apply but the warnings activate...both on the dash display and the beeping. Maybe this is just the nature of this type of system on other cars, as well.

To me, its too sensitive and too inaccurate for me. I would rather take the same risk I have taken for 30 years with very few accidents.

That's my thought exactly. I think I'll turn it off. I read on a Mercedes forum that it is a common complaint. It's possibly similar on the Jeep.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

HA is back at the dealership/service department at 770 miles on the odometer. Pretty sure it has a busted front passenger shock

Noticed it mostly going over the 5,000 speed bumps that they have in all the shopping centers/commercial lots in my town. Quite a loud "thunk" when I hit them ~50-75% of the time coming specifically from the front passenger side; and I don't haul it over the speed bumps - go over them nice and easy.

Not too happy, but the dealership got the car squeezed in and gave me a loaner, which was nice. They have not in the past when I had my 15'Limited, but I guess when you buy a $50k car and it needs service 3 weeks later, they work with you. It's a beat up Jeep Latitude which is a faaaar shot from my HA, but it'll serve its purpose for a day or two.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

Yay. Finally part of this thread. Took ownership of a Bright White 2015 HA that had 6,000 KM (3.7K miles) with a build date of Oct 2015.

Took a test drive and found one major issue and a few minor issues:

Major
1. Front suspension strut was giving a rattling noise and they assured me it will be looked at and fixed to my satisfaction. I can even choose to have any Jeep dealer closer to me to repair it and they will take care of it. I took a test drive with the salesman and manager and they were surprised especially with the odometer reading on the vehicle.

Minor
2. One of the lower clear film protection beside the rear door has bubbled. They will order a replacement film.

3. Armrest has the white stitched vinyl than the leather wrapped version. Which I only found out of this issue from this thread. I have advised the salesman on the email and he told me to tell the person who will be calling me about the first two issues above to add it in so they can take care of it. They gave me a copy of the build codes for this VIN and it specifically states leather wrapped armrest.

Hopefully that's all. I never bought 2nd hand and I was waiting for a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring (similar to Elite in the USA) but the Jeep Grand Cherokee was always on my mind and seeing the HA blacked out version reminded me of my old Audi A4 Avant. The build of the parts alone doesn't compare to the Honda. And seeing this latest generation is giving issues as well, I didn't want to take a chance on a new model. Probably will jump on the 3rd update.

In the meantime, this Jeep still has two more years of warranty so I can weed out any issues before I'm on my own. Brand new, I simply can't afford it here in Canada especially with two kids. This was my chance to own a Jeep GC and crossing my fingers it pays off.

By the way, I came from a 2010 Dodge Journey R/T and it really served me well. Just minor issues with the valve creating a tapping sound and replaced under warranty. Unlike the Audi which gave me issues year after year starting year one all the way to when I traded it in.

Sorry for the long post. Just excited I can finally join in.

Re: 2015 High Altitude Owners Thread

How do we know again if it's vinyl instead of leather? I just know the white stitching doesn't feel as supple as the seats so I thought it was vinyl.

If you scroll up you'll find pictures of the label found under the armrest hinge area. It states "vinyl". From what people are reporting, if it has white stitching, it's vinyl, not leather.
