2015 GC Mods

First post. Had this Limited, No QL, 6cyl for 1.5yrs, need new tires so time to do some fun stuff too. Installed already: front tow hooks, reciever hitch, skid plates and 77 series K&N Cold Air intake (sounds good). About to have installed: Old Man Emu lift, Rubicon 18" wheels to get more sidewall, 275/65/18 BFG All Terrain KO2's (that's a 32.1" tire which is about max you can go as understand). You'll see 5mm spacers for the rims to get a little extra clearance from the calipers, and of course some new tire sensors. Don't know any good shops in New Hampshire yet though. Was so easy when I lived in Southern California to find shops for installs. I'll post after shots and ride/handling impressions once it is done.

Going to hang on to the rims at least for now. Thanks though. Might change my mind we will see.

Re: 2015 GC Mods

How much of a lift is that OME setup? Looks around 3"

Re: 2015 GC Mods

Haven't measured. Just got done snow blowing....but it's definately more than I thought it would be. I'm loving it. Now what to do with the wheel set up? I was planning a 32" BFG AT KO2 on some Rubicon 18" rims I bought at an awesome price (5 rims for $499). Eitherway, the hard part is over! The lift is done. Rides great and love the look of it even as is. But I do need new tires these ones are worn out.

Re: 2015 GC Mods

Ok so it's done. 275/65/R18 on Rubicon rims. No spacers though it's as close as you can get to the front caliper so I'm still thinking about finding some hub centric 5mm or so spacers. Old Man Emu Lift. No rubbing anywhere. Rides great, no loss in power feeling and handles like an SUV. I hear my intake over any tire noise though of course there is a little tire noise, barely. A day of driving mixed highway and town I'm getting 21mpg, I swear I was getting 19 before when I hit reset though that average had accumulated much more driving time so I'll be happy and shocked if I end up at 19 again (winter blend gas too, and I drive sort of fast).
The calculations on weights...
OE 20" rims 33lbs. OE tires 33lbs = 66lbs per corner
Rubicon rims 28lbs. BFG AT KO2's 56lbs = 84lbs per corner

That's 18lbs more per corner.

I'm ok with that. Especially for the additional meat and a 10ply tire. Not to mention the additional lift of the larger tire. Along with the Old Man Emu lift, there's a huge difference when entering and exiting the vehicle. Anyways, love it. And thanks to member "Shots" for his useful posts in helping me decide which direction to go for rims. PS. if you get the OME lift, go to a shop with a heavy duty spring compressor. The guys I used had a death look on their faces when I came back to pick it up. They had to send the springs/struts out to a machine shop to compress, but hey, they got it done!

Re: 2015 GC Mods

Ok so I've been informed the rims I have are Sahara not Rubicon. I bought them off eBay and they were advertised ad 70th annversary polar edition rubicon rims. Either way they work for me!
