Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Guys,

New to the forum. Quick question. Potentially planning on placing an order when the order banks open for the '15s in a little over a week..with production slated to begin July 21st what is a realistic time table for delivery. Would be purchasing through the DC group buy. Appreciate any knowledge/guidance..trying to decide between waiting for the '15 or purchasing off the lot now for a '14 as I missed the boat on ordering a '14 before the banks closed.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Estimated time from order to delivery on MY14 is 6-8 weeks. Would expect this to hold for MY15 since there are no changes except in Summit and SRT models. Best case scenario, 6-8 weeks after production launch in July, but may be less if your order is already D1 status when production starts. If you cannot wait until Sept/Oct, may be best to buy a MY14.

Not even a change in exterior or interior color offerings planned for the 15 Overlands? If nothing new even there, then 14's the way to go if you can still find what you're searching for.

me too, this was my dream WK2. No sight of it on the horizon so ordered a Diesel Overland. Hope you can hold out long enough to make it a reality. Like the SFU's it may one day magically appear.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your comment. Yours is not the only comment to state that there are very few changes, if any at all, for the MY15 model. If there is to be next to nothing in changes to the MY15, then why did production stop for a month to re-tool? There must be more to it. If nothing changes, then why stop production? It would only require new compliance/production plates/tags to be installed and you wouldn't need to retool for that.

BTW, I just saw this video on the assembly line for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Great film clip. Milous, are you one of them??

You got the off road package as well? Color inside and out? How do you like it so far? How's the mpg?

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

As part of the 2015 changes, can anyone advise if there are minor updates planned to improve the small overlap crash test rating? For example changes to the seat belts or side curtain airbags to improve the score to an "Acceptable" rating? I realize that big structural changes are not likely but in looking at the small overlap calculator on the IIHS website, an improvement in only 1 category would raise the rating to Acceptable.

I'm with you. I made this suggestion on this site a very long time ago for a vehicle very similar to this and when they came out with the moab version last year I couldn't believe it! I've been waiting and waiting and waiting.

I've heard rumblings in the past that it was going to happen but sadly it hasn't and I don't believe that it will. The pansy-ass pencil pushing number crunchers at Jeep must not think that it's worth it for them to make it.

I was thinking the same thing. That crash rating scared my wife away from GC towards Volvo until I explained the details. Looks like you would only lose your left foot. Not bad!

There is no production stop that I've seen noted...they can't build them fast enough. They didn't even stop production to switch between MY13 and MY14 which did have more significant changes!
