Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Not so much the "off road" , but if I can get skid plates alone I am back. I don't plan to take a Summit "off road" but like the idea of having a little something under there for the time when you need it. I also think it helps with snow and ice, you know those soft drifts that will take out the transfer case. In any event are the skid plates just one part ? In do not need rock rails or tow hooks but last I saw you needed like 4 skid plates. Thanks for pulling me back in. My 2014 Summit is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. Goes when and where I to go, in comfort.

Yup...no issue putting the skid plates on a Summit. 'Just buy 'em and install 'em...

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What about the headlight washer system of the Summit? Is it possible to have that installed in an Overland?. My dealer says yes, but the cost would be $3995. Isn't that A LITTLE high? The reason why I want to do that is, I live in the States now, but move to Europe in 2 years and want to buy a JGC now. They are required there. But I like the capabilities of the Overland with ORAII over the Summit.

I would just buy a summit and put skid plates on it. It's much cheaper that way.

Since the feature is not available from the factory, the cost to install after-market is going to be high for many things. You might want to check on the rules over the pond relative to personal vehicles imported, rather than purchased, relative to the washer requirement. There may be a waiver for folks who move from abroad and bring a vehicle with them.

Great, thanks Seeing. Then I guess the only difference between ORA II and the combination of ORA I + Trailer package is the air suspension.

If you are going to be doing a lot of towing, others here have remarked how the air suspension is nice because it automatically levels out in reaction to the load.

Good point, thanks. On the flip side though, if you ever wanted to add a lift kit/bigger tires, wouldn't the air suspension complicate matters quite a bit?

yes, very much QL would complicate any lift
no lift kit available for QL equipped GC, doubt there ever will be one due to complexity of the system and ultimately cost

biggest size tire that appears to work is 275/65 R18 (32"), not bad considering QL provides fair to good ground clearance at slow speeds.

Thanks Kone, that's something to take into consideration, since in this case the basic math for a Limited Diesel is apparently ORA II = ORA I + Trailer Tow Group IV - $1100 (for QL Suspension).
