How do you fit a aftermarket radio in the 2014+ WK2's? The factory head unit controls everything, not just the radio?

I don't disagree. But my point was that someone "can" equip a Summit for off-road if they so choose. If indeed the front fascia is closer to the ground that would be a consideration if that person was planning on "serious" off road, but the majority of folks who go "off road" aren't likely doing that. And it's know that fitting rock-rails to a MY14 (and subsequently a MY15) Summit is a problem for similar reasons.

It's all about choices...and marketing...

And for the record, while I'm not interested in off-road one bit (outside of field parking at horse shows...), my beef with the MY14 Summit was lack of a lighter colored interior. I don't do black and the brown is still way too dark for my tastes. The MY15 option that is similar to my Saddle interior (still more black than I would prefer) is a step in the right direction, but I'd love for my next JGC Summit in a few years to have a truly light colored interior.

Does anyone know the cost to add Navigation on a Limited with the Lux II package? Seems silly that it isn't included with that package, but is listed as a dealer installed option.

I wish somewhere in the Grand Cherokee lineup there was a vehicle that offered all the luxuries/addons of the Summit, but offered the bumper and wheel surrounds of a Limited (non painted would be a bit more resistant to chips for off road use), tow hooks, full skid plates, QuadraLift, ELSD, ability to fit the Mopar rock rails, etc.

There are obviously a few people who would pay for that option.

I would have ordered one right away, but since it doesn't exist, I ordered a 2015 Summit and will opt for the skid plates later.

Assuming you mean the RA3 (8.4A) system, about $600, give or take based on what folks have posted here previously. And that NAV addition doesn't provide all the same features as if you added the RA4 (8.4AN) from the factory order...which you must do if you want it.

Thanks Jim_in_PA! I think I would rather have the AN, but can you get that in a Limited? If you can, any idea how much cost over the A?

Its called the Overland LOL

Not really kidding. Look, they can't equip a vehicle for every possible permutation that someone may want...we can't loose sight of the fact that this is a mass produced automobile here. The market for someone who would buy a $55k Summit and want to off road it enough to want plastic trim and fender flares, skid plates, rock rails, etc is pretty darn small. Be happy that they have decided to move the Summit upmarket and appeal more to luxury crossover buyers and they haven't moved the GRAND CHEROKEE in that direction entirely like every other carmaker who made a vehicle like the GC has done. Look at the Explorer, the Pathfinder, etc etc.

I shouldn't have to. The Jeep costs $47,435. I shouldn't have to spend more money after that. It's bad enough that they put too much chrome on it. It's going to cost over $1,000 to switch to body color and black. Also, the Cherokee comes with LED brake lights and the Grand Cherokee doesn't. I think Jeep is dropping the ball.

So then why not look at other options in the SUV world. Maybe someone else is offering something closer to what you want. I hear what you're saying but it's not like Jeep is the only one building SUVs.

I looked at everything else. I wanted ground clearance. Everything is a CUV these days. The Jeep is the only one that sits up high anymore. I even looked at trucks. I don't fit in the only one I like (Ram).

Then buy something else LOL. If you hate the chrome, you hate the packages, you hate the Jeep.

No vehicle is going to be the perfect combination of all things to all people. The Grand Cherokee is wildly popular, so obviously how they package it works for most people. If you want a car a certain way...you're going to have to modify it aftermarket unless you can pay for something custom built at the factory like a Rolls Royce or a Bentley. When you order a car like that you can say "I want this painted this color, and this trim this way" and they say "Yes sir, that'll be $315,000".

$47,000 is not a lot of money anymore. Thinking that you're owed a custom vehicle built, painted, packaged to your exact specifications because you're paying "$47,000" is hilarious. Jeep is "dropping the ball" because its not the way you want it...they sell 15,000 of these a month! LMAO.
