Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

$47,000 is a lot of money. It's a good portion of a down payment on a house. The packages were fine for 2014. Chrysler ruined them for 2015. There really isn't anything else on the market. I'm 6'6" and most vehicles are too small. Many of them are based off of FWD architectures which means they're garbage.

Yes; I got the RA4/NAV in my Limited - IIRC it was about $350 over the standard RA4 when I ordered it; it's been well worth it. You can check the first page of this thread for pricing info - 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing although I believe order banks for '14s are now closed.

Thanks Northland. It will be on my 2015 order!

It depends on the house and where you live.

Its all relative. $47,000 is not a huge sum of money to spend on a car today, and certainly doesn't entitle you to a custom vehicle designed to your specifications. Bear in mind you're only buying one trim level up from the base Grand Cherokee.

Packages change. If you don't like it, buy a 2014 or buy something else. You had almost 2 years to buy a 2014. Whining gets you nowhere...especially when by your own admission there is no competitor.

You can't say "Jeep is dropping the ball" and in the same post say that "nothing else is as good as the Jeep". So, I guess Jeep is all over the ball aren't they?

You keep the OEM head unit. If you look at my signature, you will see the equipment that I have that I will be installing in the Jeep when it arrives. All I need to add is a JL Audio Stealthbox and sub. To keep the OEM head unit, you install a processor between the amps and the head unit to clear up signal and for tuning. You can use the Audison Bit Ten or Bit One.

This equipment is what I had in my F250 (sold the stealth box specific to the F250 to the guy who bought the truck). I removed it specifically to keep and re-install in the Jeep. It will blow away any OEM stereo Jeep can include, including the Harmon Kardon. It's all really good stuff though.

If you look up the JL Audio Stealthbox for the Wk2, you will see that it goes in the OEM location. Between keeping the OEM head unit, and using the stealth box, you have no visible audio equipment to worry about. Looks stock!

Only thing is amp placement. I will have to check it out when I take delivery. but I'm thinking in the spare tire well. I have AAA anyways.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wasn't in the market for one until a month ago and I planned on ordering one the way I wanted it. I remember when Limited was the top model. I wanted the Limited because I wanted the plastic cladding which takes hits from rocks better and because I don't want a sunroof. Also, they don't offer the good engines on the Laredo. The premium sound should be an option on the Laredo a d standard on Limited. There was a lot they could have taken from the Limited and I wouldn't care but not the sound system. I still feel the Harmon Kardon system should be an option on more of the lineup. Ford neutered the Explorer, Chevy ditched the Trail Blazer, and the Durango sits too low. I was looking for something with the capabilities of SUVs when they we're SUVs. Jeep makes the only one and they are ruining what they have. I feel that this whole upscale movement that all the manufacturers are making is stupid. I hate that everything is becoming about status. **** status. I want a off road capable SUV with a few nice things like the 8.4AN and premium sound. I don't even want leather or heated seats. Basically if they still optioned the Laredo like they used to I would be looking at that.

There are obviously a few people who would pay for that option.
I clear bra every car we own at a really high end place. Can't tell it's there. Rock chips are no longer an issue at that point.

Sadly you are right, 47K is not a ton of money anymore these days. Also, you are quoting MSRP. You can negotiate it lower. I got my loaded Overland w/ diesel, advanced tech, QDII, ect for 49k. MSRP was 54.5k.

A civic can get in the upper 20's... Our 08 335i was 55k new. These days a 335i is 65k similarly optioned. Inflation...

My F250 (since you're looking at trucks) was stickered at 61.5k. For it for 52k though.

Any other option I was interested in for an SUV, cost more. (Audi Q7, X5, Range Rover Sport, ML350 Blutech) The cheaper SUV's simply are not as nice (4Runner) and the VW is the same price, not as many options or as rugged.

Jeep's the way to go IMO!

Cough up a little more for the audio option you want in the model that comes with it, or get better audio by doing it yourself anyways.

All car manufacturers do this. Certain desirable options are only available on certain models, to push you into a higher model/more expensive car. It's not just Jeep, that's how the car world works.

They lost a sale. Not everyone wants the world in their car.

You can order it how you want it, within the confines of what they make available.

Its not now, and it hasn't been off and on for about 20 years. Meaningless. The Limited is now the mainstream model Jeep, the Laredo is the basic model, the Overland is the Premium model, and the Summit is the luxury model (note I am excluding the SRT because its a specialty niche). Thats how it is.

Its optional on the Limited now because the Limited is serving a much wider span of buyers, including buyers that were previously Laredo buyers (read Laredo X buyers). Remember...the Limited is no longer a premium trim...its the mainstream trim.

Thats great. However, you need the reality check that nobody cares what you specifically want. Jeep is in business to make money. And you make money by appealing to wide groups of people, not by appealing to you. You have to understand that the market is shifting in a certain way towards a certain sort of product...and you have to understand that companies need to shift their product lineups to reflect what the consumer at large is looking for. Not what YOU are looking for.

If you want a basic capable, real SUV with a nice audio system there are options...the 4 Runner, the Xterra, the Cherokee. The GRAND Cherokee is not that sort of vehicle...it never really was. Its always been a premium/near-luxury SUV.

They don't care. They'll only sell 14,999 of them this month instead of 15,000. Get over yourself.

Anyways, you've said it yourself theres nothing else to buy. So, what are you going to buy? LOL

The Cherokee is FWD based. The other two are Japanese. I don't drive Japanese cars.
