Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Jeep is basically tring to trick people into thinking they are getting more than they really are, and still pay the same as before including more price increases to come. They do it by in 2014 Modely Year, changing a Limited to remove HIDs, rain-sensitive wipers, etc. And now they're doing it again for 2015 Model Year by removing the dual exhaust and 9 speaker Alpine with amp and subwoofer from Limiteds.

The premium sound should be an option on the Laredo a d standard on Limited. There was a lot they could have taken from the Limited and I wouldn't care but not the sound system. I still feel the Harmon Kardon system should be an option on more of the lineup. Ford neutered the Explorer, Chevy ditched the Trail Blazer, and the Durango sits too low. I was looking for something with the capabilities of SUVs when they we're SUVs. Jeep makes the only one and they are ruining what they have. I feel that this whole upscale movement that all the manufacturers are making is stupid. I hate that everything is becoming about status. **** status. I want a off road capable SUV with a few nice things like the 8.4AN and premium sound. I don't even want leather or heated seats. Basically if they still optioned the Laredo like they used to I would be looking at that.
Sounds like apart from the 8.4AN, based on what you say you want in a vehicle, you should be looking at a Wrangler Unlimited instead of a GC? The Wrangler you can still get the 6.5" screen. Cloth seats, RWD... Hell, it's still even body on frame with a solid front axle. Plenty of headroom too. No?

But I get your point. I don't need auto tailgate lift, heated steering wheel, etc. I'd rather have a Laredo, but then I can't get the 8.4 NAV. Also, I think the dual tailpipes are a signature look for the GC and it's a shame they're removing them from the Limited. Real shame.

Head room is fine but my legs are in the dash. I also don't want a v6 anymore. Either the Hemi or the Diesel would have been fine. I also liked the towing capacity. I was willing to deal with the chrome and the garbage tires they put on them but the sound system finished it.

There are a lot of us who are dying for Chrysler to get that diesel in the Wrangler.

As far as I know, the diesel WILL be in the wrangler for 2015. Thought this was common knowledge in the Jeep community.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm not the one ranting and raving about Jeep dropping the ball and "them loosing a sale" because the trim and packages aren't exactly what I want like my purchase or my needs matter one iota in the grand scheme of things. I may be a douche, but you're acting pretty douche-ey yourself.

Pretty colors, stereo options, and douches, oh my! Any word on Jeep improving the Fail Rated diesel DEF injector setup for 2015?

And it's know that fitting rock-rails to a MY14 (and subsequently a MY15) Summit is a problem for similar reasons.

It's all about choices...and marketing...

And for the record, while I'm not interested in off-road one bit (outside of field parking at horse shows...), my beef with the MY14 Summit was lack of a lighter colored interior. I don't do black and the brown is still way too dark for my tastes. The MY15 option that is similar to my Saddle interior (still more black than I would prefer) is a step in the right direction, but I'd love for my next JGC Summit in a few years to have a truly light colored interior.
For me, the little bit of extra clearance in the front, and the tow hooks could be good when we travel to Tahoe in the winter, up up wit Shasta. Extra clearance in the snow and a good spot to get pulled out would be welcome things. I would not call this "serious" off roading. Just practicality in daily life. I'm sure the Summit is plenty capable in most situations. I just liked the slightly more rugged look of the Overland myself. ESP if I put new wheels and some Goodyear Duratracs on it. Stock wheels and tires are a little wimpy (not horrible though). Some aggressive tires on a more posh looking vehicle (Summit) may look odd.

Regardless, both are nice.

Good for you. Just understand that you're not hurting Chrysler by doing that. 170,000 other people want to buy Grand Cherokees this year, you're not very important.

Just keep telling yourself that they care LOL

Post pictures when you buy the Jeep. We all know you're going to buy one. Look at all the bitching I did about the problems I had with my 2011...I bought a new one. Like you said, there aren't really any comparable options.
