hmmmm..... When I use the handsfree bluetooth connection everyone says it sounds great unless it is raining hard which makes a bunch of noise on the windshield.

It's a highly personal and subjective thing tho.
My wife has a Cadillac XTS and the talking to her on through bluetooth sounds like she is going 100 down the interstate with the windows open.

Yep, highly subjective to individual ears. Like I said, there's a valid reason FCA spent money to quiet the Summit interior. It has to be to equal or better the competition otherwise they wouldn't spend the R&D dough simple as that. The Summit (or any variant) is still the best bang for the buck in 2 row SUV's bar none. What they are doing is closing the actual (not perceived) luxury SUV feature gap on the Summit with the more expensive competition. Luxury = silent interior and luxury = vanity (lighted summit sills), etc...

Yep, pretty much identical to my 2011 Summit saddle brown. I am a bit bummed since I am interested in a 2015 Summit to replace my 2011 but really like the dark brown in the 2014 model. I may wait for 2016

If you feel like your Summit is loud, you should have it looked at. Especially your comment about closing the panoramic roof shade...my shade makes no difference in interior noise. Their goal is to make the Summit more luxurious and even quieter, but I've never read a review or seen anybody call the current WK2 "loud" until now.

This is my second WK2 JGC, my first being a 2011 Laredo X. It too was a very quiet vehicle, the Overland is no quieter but just as quiet. I drove everything in the segment, Lexus RX, Infiniti JX, FX, BMW X5, MB ML...the Jeep is as quiet or quieter than anything in the class. I have a good friend who has a new X5 that I ride in on a weekly basis, she and I both agree the Jeep is just as quiet as her X5. Like I said...having had two Lexus LS sedans (you wont find a quieter car)...I know and appreciate quiet.

I use bluetooth phone on a regular basis, and while I primarily drive the Lexus I've never had anybody complain about my voice in the Jeep.

You may as well be telling me the sky is green here

They still have the dark brown interior on the 2015 models (there are now three interior color choices).

These new Summit Platinums sure do look very good.

I like them in white.

I am not saying the '14 Summit is plain loud inside, it's not it's pretty quiet.

I was only making the observation in the context of the pending test drive of the new sound/noise reduction features of the '15 Summit only. Opinions do vary fo' shizzle, not gonna debate the Summit interior sound level vs. a BMW X5 (or others) as you will never convince me that my '14 Summit is as quiet as a '14 BMX X5 (or my previous 3 and 5 series BMW's or my current '11 Infiniti G37). I agree, it is quiet enough, hell I chose it over the X5.

I think we can agree that the auto world revolves around the feature/performance/price/value game, right? In the premium luxury game, the only segment I am talking about here, customers value (and pay for) cabin isolation (silence). And that is a constantly moving target.

I would be curious about your opinion on why they spent R&D dough on and are adding, again Summit only, for '15:

+ Active Noise Control System
+ Acoustic Windshield and 2nd Row Side Glass

It must be because they felt they could (or should/need to) do better on interior cabin sound levels. We are talking degrees of refinement here.

Forget the bluetooth example. Try this with a Summit. The HK stereo actually highlights the interior sound levels more. Parked without engine running when you play a well encoded high quality song (not the usual mp3 download crap) that has low volume sections play it and see what minimum volume you can acceptably play the song at to hear the low volume stuff. Now go for a drive and see how much you have to increase volume to stay "acceptable". Do I need to mention "speed sensitive volume" feature here? Why do they have it if it is not needed.

I bet the '15 Summit is noticeably more quiet than the '14 Summit across all applications. Again, '14 Summit isn't loud per se, but against some of the competition it is louder, IMHO. I bet the '15 Summit sound/noise feature enhancements narrow or erase that gap. If not, shame on them for wasting their R&D dough.

BTW, I just got back from a week on the coast in Maryland and, you are right, the sky wasn't green. I would call it a very nice Maya Blue shade.
