The diesel and hemi give you Quadra Drive ll with ELSD which is normally $795 by itself.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I just ordered a gas V6 Overland 4x4 with ORAII ($395 up charge) and it says that it comes with QuadraDrive II including the Limited Slip Differential. I confirmed this on "build and price" from Jeep.com and the confirmation (see below) that the sales person sent me. I am 99% sure that this was only included with the Diesel and V8 last year.

So, should I really expect my Overland V6 Jeep to show up with QuadraDrive II?

Off-Road Adventure II (AWY)
Details:
• Michelin Brand Tires (TZH)
• Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield (XEE)
• Transfer Case Skid Plate Shield (XEF)
• Front Suspension Skid Plate (XEU)
• Underbody Skid Plate (XF3)
• Trail Rated Badge (MT2)
• P265/60R18 BSW AS On/Off Rd Tires (TP5)
• 18X8.0 Polished Aluminum Wheels (WBL)
• Quadra-Drive II (R) 4WD System (AWB)
• Selec-Speed (TM) Control (BNK)
• Elec LTD Slip Differential Rr Axle (DSF)

I wouldn't. QDII is only available with the V8 or diesel. ELSD is part of QDII, so that won't happen either.

I should add... I haven't heard of them changing that for 15.

• Quadra-Drive II (R) 4WD System (AWB)
For some dumb reason, QD-II is only available with the Diesel and V8.

However, if I understand it correctly, the Quadra-Trac II does come with a Limited Slip Differential. But it is a mechanical one, not an electronic one. The mechanical Limited Slip Diff works differently. The gear that turns when there is different rate of rotation of each rear axle runs a little pump. The pump pushes the limited slip clutch plate. So whenever one wheel spins, the differential locks itself.

This is why when you watch Quadra-Trac II videos of trucks attempting steep inclines and individual wheels spin, you hear, "Aaaah-ruh. Aaaah-ruh. Aaaah-ruh. Aaaah-ruh." The spinning wheel has to spin a fair amount for LSD to give the other wheel torque. Then, the differential planetary gears stop spinning, the pump stops, the clutch is released, and the differential becomes unlocked. So you get a kind of rhythm of lock-unlock.

But if you watch a Quadra-Drive II video, the electronics choose when to lock and unlock. So you don't have the hysteresis. When spinning happens, it locks the differential and unlocks it when (I don't know how it decides to unlock).

Anyway, QDII (AWB) is only part of Off-Road Adv II (AWY) IF you have the diesel or the 5.7V8.

Well it sounds like what I was quoted was incorrect. Thanks for all of the feedback. JeepGarage is such a great source of information!

It also seems to me like this is a huge liability for Jeep. I have to imagine there are a lot of upset people when the online configurator and sales confirmation say you get QDII and Limited Slip with the ORAII package and then when you get your vehicle, it is missing. I know Jeep will be getting a call from me if my Jeep does indeed arrive without it.

When I go to the Jeep.com configurator it states QDII is unavailable with some configurations. When you build a V6 the price for ORAII is 1,795, and when you build a V8 or Diesel it is 2,495, becuase of the increased cost for QDII. Don't get your hopes up that you will have QDII on a Pentastar V6.

Milous-

Pat said on the Wrangler forum today that the GC is going to have some paint color restrictions. Would you please mention which colors are going to be restricted, when the restriction starts and for how long?

Thanks much

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

ReelMan, Milous has already posted that the Cherry Red, Auburn and Cashmere are leaving the line and will not be able to be ordered after sometime later this month. Replacements have not been specified yet, so that would result in some restrictions, at least for factory orders. It will be interesting to see what the replacements will be...I have little doubt there will be another shade of red since it's a popular color for vehicles. The others are more "limited appeal", but necessary to have in the line where folks want "different". I personally would like them to offer a color or two that is more "aggressive" like they have for Wrangler; perhaps something like the orange that was on the "Trailhawk II" concept teaser about a year and a half ago.

Thanks, Jim. I must have missed Milous posting that info. I am just about ready to pull the trigger and hope to find what I want available without ordering, as the current Red is what the wife wants; I'm getting an Orange Wrangler Unlimited Hard Rock for myself, which will need to be ordered due to the half doors that I want.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

You should be able to find the Cherry Red if you're "pulling the trigger" real soon now...go for it! And I'm envious of that orange. That's an example of something I'd like to see available on the JGC...something bolder...and I suspect there is a reasonable number of people who would enjoy having such a choice to make it worthwhile. I doubt they could justify "many" bold colors, but having one or two would be nice.

Blood Orange would be sweet. Even nicer would be if Chrysler puts out a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk again.

Toyota is coming out with a 4Runner TRD Pro in "Inferno Orange".

I have one on order just in case Jeep can't get off their ass and make the Trailhawk II.
