It would be a huge leap if all it did was eliminate the numerous drips, runs, and contaminants that got past the old system.

Not sure how the old system compares but my new paint system 1/27/15 build has about 4 spots where some form of contamination is embedded in the paint - like a large spec of dust/grit was painted over or something so not too impressed with the 'improved system'. Orange peel is what I would call acceptable/average.

Add that to the fact that 2 doors and the rear hatch are misaligned at some point, almost all of the chrome window strips don't line up and the rear bumper looks as if it was aligned by a blind man - and I'm not too impressed with the build and paint quality.

Great vehicle by design, poor assembly. Interior fit and finish is pretty good though. Still like this car a lot thought.

What color, jprieur? The "monochromes" were continued in production with the "old" paint system, AFAIK, during the factory retrofit. The new system wasn't yet online, for the most part, in January, either. 'Not sure if the new system will take over those colors or not...that's not been clear in things posted previously.

Granite grey, pretty sure mine was using the new system from the schedule that was posted on here by someone on a different thread. Also the dealer mentioned when we started negotiations that all he had coming in was grey/silver due to a paint system restart. Sure enough when my car showed up on the truck first week in FEB it was one of 3 cars, all were granite and billet silver.

Ya pretty sure all production stopped 12/22 for about 3 weeks for the changeover. I thought the gray scale colors for startup were to "walk before they run"....sounds like they should still be " walking"

EDIT:

Here's the article about it...

http://www.autonews.com/article/2014...aint-shop-redo

and this one implies what is said above about gray scales remaining available but how is that with production suspended for 3 weeks?

Milous?

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Isn't there a factory shut down over the holidays...that is all production ceases. That's when they did the paint system changeover. I think the factory holiday shutdown was separate from the stopping and resuming the colors.

Quite sure they timed the new system install to take advantage of any normal holiday idling.

They did do a shutdown, but the reason was to implement the new paint system. They don't normally do a "Holiday" shutdown that long due to the volume demand; at least I don't recall one being mentioned in the past few years. What wasn't clear to me, however, was if the "monochrome" colors, which continued in production all along, were going on the new paint system...since it was touted as being more flexible for "color" choices...at least right away. Hopefully, one of the insiders can clarify on this...

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Can anyone confirm the "9 Amplified Speakers W/Subwoofer" [RC3] is now a separate option available on the Limited? Just found it listed as a stand alone option on Edmunds and True Car at an MSRP of $495. I assume that is the same Alpine speaker system Milous / WK2Jeeps has listed as part of the "Luxury Group II" [AHN] but not listed as a stand alone option. If anyone knows the invoice for this as well, that would be greatly appreciated.

Am close to ordering a '15 JGC and am hoping this is accurate. The rumored Harmon Kardon option at $2k is not something I want to spring for... Thanks.
