Yes and if i remember correctly it closes both valves to create a spring action.

The way this thing is set up, it sounds to me like you're driving a six or four cylinder around most of the time, until you smack it?

Also, (correct me if I'm wrong). When you go from a dead cold start up, it bangs on all 8 until the engine reaches operating temperature and the thermostat opens?

My experience it's more like: your driving on all 8 and if the road flattens out and your keeping a consistent speed it'll cut 4 cylinders. Like silvermax said, I barely notice it and power is always available.

All JGC with Hemi since 2011 have this feature. It's not noticeable, in my experience, and is what allows us to get 20-22 mpg on the highway. That's important to me.

It senses when the load is low, such as when cruising, and disables four cylinders gracefully. If more power is needed, they seamlessly reengage. This is a very common construct on vehicles these days so that they can meet fuel consumption standards while still being able to deliver performance for tasks, such as towing, when it's needed.

It sure sounds good, I won't argue that. My only fear is in the complexity of the whole system. All of a sudden an extended warranty doesn't sound like such a bad thing.

Re: 2015 Grand Cherokee - V-8 Or V-6 ??

If you are buying an upscale trim level with "bells and whistles", the Mopar MaxCare extended service contract (it's not a "warranty") is likely a good idea. I chose it for that reason as well as the mileage I pile on which had me out of warranty in far less time than the 36 months allotted. And the loaner/rental feature is available during the OEM warranty period, too.

Making sure to use the correct type of oil the system is very dependant on the use of the 5w20 or 5w30 for the 5.7. I am less concerned about powertrain issues as i am all of the other systems that can break on the jeep like quadra lift or acc orthings like that thise are high dollar fixes and concerning to me over the long haul. If you keep the jeep a long time the maxcare lifetimevis s bargain at a little more than 2k.

I wonder about 5W-20 in the 115 degree desert heat in the Summer?
