I suspect that the intention was specifically to avoid that...they identified certain features that they felt would be the most popular to produce what is effectively a base vehicle with those added "most popular" features as standard with a distinctive look. They purposefully limited options to keep ordering simple and the focus on volume for an attractively appointed and priced JGC.

The Altitude is a special Laredo package by design.

That said, if not an "Altitude", it would be nice to see some more special editions in the higher trim levels. There are many folks who like to buy something that is "different" and that's where special editions come into play. But they seem to have backed down from that a little...the Trailhawk II never materialized, for example, and a lot of folks were pining for that!

I agree on that.

The packages are created to deliver a all-in-one packaged vehicle without the option availability for those buying. Customization is really great and car manufacturers try to please the masses by asking the customer "What's your flavor". But, to a manufacturer, limiting the options/customization is a blessing (all the way through the pipeline).

My personal experience was with Honda. I purchased a CR-V and only had 3 trim level choices. LE, EX, EX-L. That's it. I had no ability to make a major configuration. I picked what trim I thought fits and went with it. Simple done.

The Altitude is a great "special edition" vehicle which of course I bought into. Like MOFSTEEL said earlier in the thread...I can make small modifications to fit my needs.

Great point. Is there a small mod that replaces the v6 with a v8? The altitude needs to offer the v8 as an option.

Or maybe jeep should offer blacked out wheels for the overland.

Yes there is ... RIPP Superchargers

Or maybe you could buy my Altitude wheels for your Overland.

I partially agree with Jim but also see that the Blackhawk, which is essentially an Altitude, is offered in Australia with a plethora of options including the CRD.

I realize this it's a whole different market but only think it's a matter of time until Jeep starts offering a blacked out package on higher models.
Not unlike Audi who went through this transition a few years ago with their Titanium package.

Re: 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude III

We are stoked with Our Altitude!!

Like Mof said... small mod's fit me fine.. I plan to upgrade to the HID lights and if they start putting them on the new ones... no big deal I can make that adjustment..

only thing I am gonna be bummed about is if they get Pano Roof and drivers memory seat..

but not willing to take the loss in trade for those 2 features..

Any huge adjustments.. like ( more powerful and efficient v6 ) with the above features and the possibility they add more.. well I may trade it in if the $$ is not to big of a hit..

However I think we will only see minor updates// a new color or two. different interior trim possible memory seats.. and another wheel choice

we shall see.

My next jeep is an srt and I hope by then the altitude will be a package that can be added to any trim. I love the look but what keeps me away is the time and work involved with making the changes Id want.

You have blacked overland wheels for sale? If so what's the cost? Don't you dare post a link!!!! I kid I kid.

Remember, this is a marketing decision by Jeep. The folks they are marketing the Altitude to are not likely V8 buyers. And it's based on the Laredo which...is v6 focused. It's economical to build and push out to the dealer network and has a set of features that guarantee its popularity with a particular buyer demographic. Such is the nature of "special editions".

This i agree with.

When i was in the market 8 months or so ago the Altitude is what caught my attention in the JGC. Granted i've known people who've own the 2nd gen and i loved them but never really thought about it again til i saw the altitude. After researching and seeing what options are available i even contacted a dealer and told me the altitude does not come with the rear back up cam nor the sensor. And only came in V6.

At this point i was already considering getting the v6 but no cam/sensors? That was the deal breaker for me.

So i began upping the trim and landed in the overland.

Jeep needs to offer the capability of offering its customer the ability to if necessary order their vehicle with the options they desire for all trims, special order or something.

Chevrolet is doing it with the Camaro. This is the problem in having so many trims.
