2015 JGC Color Help

Hey all,

Trying to figure this one out, having a tough time. We are a two JCG family. My lease on my 2012 Brilliant Black just ran up and I replaced with Billet Silver Limited. My wife's lease is up soon and I think she'd be better suited to the silver, as she currently drives a 12 Bright Silver. So, I was thinking of giving her the Billet. I veered toward the Billet for myself originally because I felt it was the most straight-ahead color with a unique gray cast. Not a whole lot of the poly-chromatic issues you get with the others, including the black, which I hated (if I had my choice, I would just get a plain black clearcoat GC, but of course they don't exist). So, if I hand her the keys to the billet, I am now looking at either Max Steel or Granite Crystal. I'm on the fence with both. In fact, when I got my 2012 black, I was considering the Max Steel, as I thought it looked good, but I decided to "play it safe" and go black. I'm primarily concerned with the color changing elements with both the Max Steel and the Granite. I'm sure the purple that shows up in the Max Steel and the dark mauve that shows up in some light in the Granite, will perhaps bother me both equally. Not sure what happened to straight solid colors. Oh well, modern problems. Thanks for reading!

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

I have a max steel and love it. Granite was on the short list for me (as was billet silver0, but in some light, the granite looked dull to me. But color is subjective, so look at both in person if you can, then decide.

Fully agreed.

When I bought my Jeep, there was a Granite colored one on the lot that matched exactly what I wanted. I almost bit.

The thing is, the granite just didn't seem to shine up as well as some other colors. I ended up holding out for red and I'm really glad I did.

It's just dark enough to carry a deep shine, yet doesn't look dirty a day after washing it. Further, it really looks great with the black and chrome accents - just enough contrast.

The tan leather goes well with it.

At work, every single person who has seen it says the same thing: "it looks really good in that red".

You can't really tell in the photos below, but the paint has metallic flecks in it that really sparkle in bright sun.

What do you all think of the Auburn color on the Summits? I love my cherry red but I'm thinking of getting the Auburn next.

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

That was going to be my choice if I opted for the summit. I think it would look great with the dark sienna brown. Couldn't justify getting the summit however

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

I chose the Auburn for my Summit. IMO, it is the only color that is offered that stands out from the rest. I think that too many of the colors look to close in appearance. Jeep always had pretty boring colors. They need to diversify.

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

I absolutely love the Auburn color in person. Beautiful and you don't see them often. Wish I could have gotten it on the Overland...just wanted the Overland instead of the Summit.

Aside from the point: The Auburn looks great on Ram trucks too where they call it Western Brown.

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

I am in the same boat here, the granite color looks like it would handle the dirty winter road grime a bit better than the Max Steel, also any small imperfections (scratches which are inevitable if you actually take your vehicle on the back roads and such) I think wil lbe less visible on the Granite.

I think the Max Steel is beautiful but dont exactly want a vehicle that dark again. My black ram showed every water spot and scratch in the clearcoat so badly I swore to never own a black vehicle again.

Been thinking about the Red also, both of my previous GC's (WK's '06 SRT8 and a 07 Limited) were both red, so I could go that route also, but then my wife doesnt care for red, heck I am the one driving it so why would I care.

I think in the end I will wind up with Granite because of all the colors I think it will look best with rock rails, matte black wheels and other accents.

Picking a color is tough because you cant change it easily or cheaply, unlike tires and other bolt ons.

GC's are built to be Red The brochures and commercials often use Red.
It's not overly popular either.

I had 3 red GC's prior and needed a change. So I got black this time and I still like it.

I agree Red contrasts the black nicely as well as the chrome.

The red just never gets old.
I agree it does not show dirt that bad either.

The Greys are oh so boring. You get an exciting vehicle and put the color of dirt on it.

I like the blue too.

Re: 2015 JGC Color Help

Pick the color you like, and don't base your choice on how it will look dirty.

I like the Deep Cherry and the wife choose it and it is her Jeep.
