2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Hey Guys,

I am about to purchase a 2015 GC Summit and want to know how everything is holding up for all the current owners.

Thanks in advance for any input/advice. I've been reading here and other various forums for months now and have mixed conclusions regarding owner satisfaction/reliability.

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Day two of ownership of my '14 Summit. I know you said '15, but figured I could chime in since mine was a very late built '14 that I just took delivery of two days ago. Very minimal changes between the years anyway.
Simply put, I LOVE it! I cannot get over how amazing the interior is. Hopefully the vehicle proves to be solid and issue free, but at two days into ownership it's hard to say. No regrets so far :-)

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

I have a 2015 Overland with the ORAII, so I could get the 18" wheels. I'm happy with the JGC so far. We picked it up at the beginning of November, and drove it round trip to C/FL from N/VA. We now have 5,000 miles. So far everything works.

It's a great highway cruiser. It does get pushed around in the wind and sometimes I seem to be constantly correcting the track by very small amounts. The 20" wheels might improve that. However, the roads in N/VA are terrible. There are potholes everywhere and I like the extra sidewall between the road and the rim. I drove it a couple of times in the snow and I was surprised at some of the traction problems I had even in slow speed turns on ice and hard backed snow. I posted my problems here and the feedback from other owners was that the Michelins are bad in winter weather and winter tires would help.

So far no defects. There is a learning curve with the technology. We got the Advanced Technology package and are happy we did. I wish I had front parking sense, but you will have that on the Overland. The ACC is great on long trips and makes me feel safe cruising at high speed.

The JGC is pretty quiet at high speeds. It took a while to get comfortable in the seats. They were hard at first, but I like a firm seat. They are broken in now and are very comfortable. I love the seat ventilation. It was great in Fl where it's hot and humid.

The Jeep accelerates well for me with a V-6. I'm getting 19 mpg in mixed driving. We burned about 1/4 quart of oil in the first 1,500 miles, as I expected. It seems to have stopped burning oil now.

My wife loves the Jeep and feels very comfortable driving it. I think it's great for what it is. I have to remember to slow down on turns, as my normal car is a BMW 335 coupe. The Jeep handles well at high speeds on the highway. But it's not a sports car.

We plan to drive across country this fall and I'm looking forward to offloading in Moab, and driving through Monument Valley.

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Had our 15 Overland for two months now and have no regrets. Got the Overland verses the Summit for two reasons. Wife wanted the Light Frost interior which isn't available in the Summit and I wanted the Off Road II package which wasn't available as a package for the Summit (yes we could add it piece-meal).

Our ears won't pick up on the enhanced audio the Summit offers, but might have enjoyed the noise cancelling feature of the Summit.

We have the Overland and are satisfied!!

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Purchased my 2015 Overland at the end of August 2014 through the DC group buy and have racked up almost 12,000 miles. It is absolutely the best vehicle I've owned technologically and aesthetically speaking. On a sad note, I did have to take it in for service this week to have a leaky rear diff. seal replaced. Otherwise, I have no complaints and feel as though I'm driving a vehicle that costs $20K to $30K more. I would buy another one in a heartbeat!

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Got my '15 Summit last November and after the first 2K miles (yes, I know, that's not much..), I'm having no regrets, either (or in other words, would certainly buy again).

The only issues I ran into were a defective camera-module for the collision-warning/cruise control that had to be replaced and the steering-wheel had to be aligned because it was off-center. These two tasks were a bit more complicated to fix than necessary due to the way the service-department fixed (or initially tried to fix) it.

Every time I approach my Jeep, it puts a smile on my face - and that says a lot.

This is also my first white vehicle and although it looks excellent when clean, it will probably be my last. I assumed that white might NOT be more sensible than black in regards to showing dust and dirt. Boy, was I wrong...

Thanks! I've been on the fence between black, granite, and white. I believe I'm decided on black.

Re: 2015 JGC Overland/Summit: How Many Miles So Far and Would you Buy Again?

Got my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel 4x4 on January 11th. I currently have about 9,000 miles on it and love it so far. I haven't had any big issues (other than a noise when turning left at 30+ mph, which I am pretty sure I know what is causing it and it's minor). I have done quite a bit of modding to it as well. Yes, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Silver is the one that doesnt show anything. I miss how easy that color was, this black is great but the only day its clean is the day i wash it.

Those are my favorite colors as well. Although I haven't seen it yet in person, a few members reported that the granite looks awesome in combination with the California Package. Initially, I ordered black but switched to a white one that was in the inventory of a dealer close by when they forgot to add the CD-player to my initial order. I really wanted the brown interior and I wasn't sure if granite was the best match. Now, with black leather, I would have picked granite.

I certainly don't regret getting the white because the contrast to the dark brown interior simply looks phenomenal. It just needs a little bit more care...

A Billet Silver Summit California with black interior would be great...
