Re: 2015 leftover deals

I have shopped like crazy before and have never been able to get more then $5k off a GC. Timing is everything I suppose. And maybe location.

Re: 2015 leftover deals

I am finally replying to the deal I did not make. The main thing that caused me concern was that I had to take the vehicle as it was a dealer trade without seeing it. On other vehicles I have bought from this dealer he always said I was not committed to buy even if it was a dealer trade. He still didn't have the GC Monday at 1:00 PM when he told me that so I backed out and he was not happy. ( I most likely would have bought It if he already had the GC) To clarify the deal that I did not take was like this; GC--MSRP--$42,900---Trade value on my TH Cherokee--$28,000 -difference was 8500 OTH (deduct about 400 for taxes and plate from that) But if you simply deduct $28,000 from $42,900 you get $14,900 so deduct my $8500 OTH Door price and you get $6400 which would be the discount on the GC. FORGET CARMAX--I used to sell them most of my vehicles and got more than I could from the dealer. I went to CARMAX a week after I backed out of this deal and was offered me $25,650. From the deal posted before this post, it looks like maybe they could have done more anyhow. I have a brother who is retired from the great Chrysler Transmission plant in Kokomo, Indiana so I get an EP price which usually means the offer on my vehicle is the same as cash as I get the EP price plus any rebates. The only thing I don't know is if the dealer is getting any more off that vehicle such as "Fast Start" money and other deductions which they don't have to give to me. I was particular in what I wanted in my GC and could only find one more that was several hundred miles away. I may look again if they up the discount this month. Sorry for such a long delay--but still new on this forum and got lost. I am a senior citizen so I have not been on the forums most of my life--LOL

Re: 2015 leftover deals

OKAY--I am now an official owner of a WK2. I was in contact with two dealers yesterday morning and drove over a hundred miles for a good deal I think. I posted this on the KL forum to let them know I am no longer an owner of a KL, but will still visit them as I had almost 2000 posts. Now I am the "baby" and will have to get all the help I can for this senior citizen to figure out some of the "buttons to push" etc on my new GC:
I know-get to the price--Okay-(MSRP of GC-$45,185)-$28000 trade in for my TH and I paid $9236 OTD which also included a back mat and some rubber mats (looked it up and that was about 185 dollars or so). So I paid $37236 which included the mats and the $325 tax and title here in SC. (check my math-may be wrong but I know how much money I gave them-LOL) Looks like I got about a $7949 discount on the 2015--double check

Options on GC--4 by 4, (not trail rated), Trailer Tow Group IV, Power Sunroof, Uconnect 8 AN ,20 inchx8.0 inch Aluminum Wheels, Blind Sport and Cross Path Detection. (3.6engine)

(If you check the deal I posted before and didn't take, I think it paid to wait and get just about exactly what I wanted with a bigger discount)

No Pics here yet-posted some on the kl forum under DONE IT NOW!!! (son had to do it for me--not that tech savvy--maybe he will post them here for me .

I got my 2015 a couple months ago. A couple dealers had $8K off Grand Cherokees, but those dealers also had the price jacked up a few thousand higher than the dealers with $5K off.

It does pay to check out the MSRP compared to the price they are asking and apparently you did.

Are they allowing sales again? Didn't think they could sale them until the recall was completed.

There will always be dealers who choose profit over legal compliance, imagine that...but NHTSA 4/27/16 letter to FCA:

"Please be reminded that under 49 U.S.C. 30112(a)(3), it is illegal for a manufacturer, to sell, offer for sale, import, or introduce or deliver into interstate commerce, a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that contains a safety defect once the manufacturer has notified NHTSA about that safety defect. This prohibition does not apply once the motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment has been remedied according to the manufacturer's instructions."

That does not change the fact that the NHTSA gave the stop sale order which makes it 100.0% illegal, in all cases, for a dealer to sell (or even "offer for sale") a "new" 14 or 15 without the S27 safety recall having been performed.

That said, the recall is BS in my book anyway and it is not illegal for you to buy one if they will sell it to you....for the litigious, it is a lawsuit in a box for you should you become one of these stats (hope not) that drove the recall...a barrister's wet dream...

"As of April 12, 2016, FCA US has identified approximately 700 field reports potentially related to this issue which includes 212 crashes, 308 claims of property damage and 41 injuries."
