2015 New Overland Purchase

This Saturday I'm buying a new Jeep Overland with V8. I'm leaning toward Crystal Granit with Light Frost Interior. Was thinking about Max Steel, but I think its too dark for those dark New England Days. I feel Granite pops more and light interior is great for the beach and Cape climate.

Any thoughts on color on exterior or interior?

I know Light Frost can begin to look weathered by the time 100k comes around, but black just seems too dark.

The dealer has knocked $6k off, approx. $46K with Tech Package. Not a big fan of the forward sensor, but that's what comes with lighter interior. There is one without in black for $44k.

Any Mods or requests I should ask from the dealer? I was thinking of asking them to throw in a MOPAR CAI and chrome pedal covers.

I have a V8 Granite Crystal Overland with the Black Interior. I'm also from MA and have no problems with the color combination. Really comes down to preference for you but I love the Granite Crystal and my Overland in general so far.

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

my wife is leaning back toward black. Maybe we go black.
Did you have any other recommendations that I should ask dealer for in negotiations?

Here are a couple of Mods I've been kicking around:

1) Rocky Road front bumper, brush guards, winch, and lighting
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee bumper kits, WK2

2) Rims and Tires. Would be interesting to see what Overland look like with AEV (American Expedition Vehicles) tires and rims.

Does anyone know if there are any good threads on Expedition style upgrades for Overland?

I like the Granite Crystal with the Black interior on the Summit trim I've looked at, although the all black interior including black headliner does seem a bit too dark. It makes a big difference when the headliner and some trim pieces are gray with the black seats, dash, carpet, etc.

I test drove an Overland in Black with that light Frost, and while it really brightens up the inside that interior will show every single speck of dirt. My wife drives a Lexus RX with interior similar to that and it's nice and bright but it shows more dirt than the interior of my black Acura TL.

I love the Maximum Steel color and wish they offered it on the Summit as that would be my first choice, then Black, then Granite Crystal. It always comes down to personal preference so buy what you like and not what somebody else tells you to buy....except for a spouse

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

Granite was my 3rd choice. Once i saw the Max Steel i had to have it and in person it looks better. As for the Granite i would have gone with it but it kinda resembled my last 3 vehicles so i wanted a change. For me the options were in that order:

Max Steel
Black
Granite

Either choice you pick, they are great non the less.

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

I'd take the light interior over all choices if it's available to me and it will certainly look very nice with your exterior color choice. (I frankly prefer light colors outside, too, but this is all a very subjective thing)

Best wishes for your new JGC!

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

We went granite crystal with black interior on our overland. Thought about the light interior for a bit, but noticed so many smudge/dirt marks on the inside door panels on the ones that sat on the lot - so figure much worse in real world usage. Plus wife and I wear jeans to work so expect some dye transfer on light colored seats - doesn't always happen but can occasionally occur.

Max steal is a great color to be sure, but definitely dfalls into the high maintenance color range. Billet silver is my new favorite that I see on the road, has just enough pop and a but of a blue hue to distance itself from boring silver - plus hides scratches and dirt like a champ.

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

So today we pick up our new JEEP!

We are 90% sure we are going with Granite/Black Interior. Dealer has one with Advanced Tech and one without. I think the front sensor is just one thing more that can break, and I don't think I care one way or the other. We will see a Max Steel on the lot, but because its a dark rainy day in Mass. I think we are going to see it as too dark.

- The bottom line color exterior and interior is defiantly a personal choice and more importantly should be valued differently based on individuals life style. I wear jeans to work and die from dark jeans can be a real problem. It was a major factor why we are going with black. The dealer has 7 black jeeps and so does every other dealer within a 100 miles. If you don't want to be driving to car wash every other week and want to stand out. I think Granite is best option. Max Steel is also hard to keep up and actually looks black more often than not.

Final price is $45k with 0.0 financing for 36 months. They might throw in free pedal covers and MOPAR CAI to sweeten deal. I also have my wife's 2005 Subaru trade in which will bring it down even further. So not bad!

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

I would definitely consider the advanced technology package...it's great! Just the advanced cruise control is well worth it. I'll never buy another vehicle with it. If you search prior threads, you'll find a lot of others feel the same.

Ditto on Advanced Technology. Don't be stupid like I was and realize after and trade it in a year later. I have no regrets trading up to have Advanced Tech Package. It's a bargain on an Overland.

I hate light interiors. They look great to start, but they look so drab 3-5 years in. Depends on how long you expect to keep it.

When I cleaned up are two 12 year old cars the interiors looks almost like new. If they were light they would looked like sh$t.

Dark is a pain to keep clean looking good as you go. I never had issues with it being too hot. Always keep my windows cracked and park in the shade with any car. It's kind of like having a black or dark car. Pain to keep clean but looks great when it's clean.

Black never goes out of style.

If you only plan for 3+/- years, it doesn't matter. Indigo Blue/Brown is nice too.

All the exterior colors are nice. You might read the Paint thread. Seems the Greys are more prone to even spray on the undercoat.

Re: 2015 New Overland Purchase

Got our first Jeep! It handles like a dream and the interior is so lush, you feel your driving a European Car. I guess Fiat has had some positive influence in invigorating the Jeep brand. Those out there looking for off-road, beach, or towing capabilities in a SUV, look no further with a JGC Overland.

Got Jeep to install MOPAR CAI
Ordered WeatherTech matts

- Now strongly considering the in bumper winch and brush guard set up by Rocky Road Outfitters. Our intention is a lot of beach sand cruising on Cape. Winch is much better than being stranded for hours and having a bill for $200.
