I'll be in the market soon for a 2015 JGC and have it narrowed down to the Overland or Summit in Granite Crystal with the HEMI. I actually prefer the look the of the Overland over the Summit especially with the 20" wheels but I just wish I could get the HK audio system in the Overland.

I'm still considering the Summit though and am anxious to see one in Granite Crystal with the Platinum package in person. Based on the pics paired with other colors I've see here, I'm not all that impressed.

I feel you on every aspect.. My dream car would of been all the bells and whistle of the summit with the overland exterior in maximum steel..The overland to me looks like the ideal jeep.. I was mad about the hk system and acc not being available for it.. I ordered the granite crystal summit with everything including rear blu ray and the platinum package as well.. Been searching for a pic to see what I'm getting but if they don't post one by the time i get mines I'll be sure to post it a few pics when I get it.. Expected date as of now 8/24/14 but hearing how the dates change it might be later...

For the record, ACC *is* available for the Overland (I have it).

yes, except the wood is a shiny laquer covered walnut which is a shade of dark brown with black streaks in it.

You can't get the HK system, but you can get an all-black interior, including a black headliner.

If you want to change your order, complain and tell the dealer that you were mislead by the salespeople. You ordered from Koons, correct? Here is a Maximum Steel/Black Overland that is loaded with the 5.7L HEMI V8 and the Advanced Technology Group (Adaptive Cruise Control/Forward Collision Warning) at Koons: http://www.koonschrysler.net/new/Jee...9e81714cb0.htm. If you are getting an Overland, there are no changes at all in the model between the 2014 and 2015 model years.

I did order at koons.. Heres the issue prior to ordering at koons i did my actual shopping at 2 different dealers on foot and spoke with 2 different salesman about these cars and what i wanted.. Both of them assured me the jeep i needed was the summit.. Whats funny is i found myself telling them more info about the jeep then they were informing me.. ( should of been my initial sign) got the info about the koons group buy and just asked for summit to see the price difference.. Smh got the $4000.00 cheaper price and just jumped for it.. The overland you suggested is missing the rear blu ray package but christ its $9000.00 cheaper then my summit and ill probably spend the same amount regardless on the exterior to get it how i want it or maybe cheaper if i get the Rims straight from factory the way i want.. It feels like a no brainer but im still torn about the HK system and blu ray.. Wish they let you do something custom from the dealer being your ordering it.. Smh not like your asking for something they dont carry..

yeah you can get ACC on overland, salesman are often just trying to force you up to the higher model or may be just a dim bulb. Main items overland will not have are Adaptive Headlights, HK Stereo, Front Park assist sensors, Nutura leather (whatever the hell that is).(edit: for 2015 also active noise canceling system, acoustic front windshield and the light up door plates) The HK stereo is probably the biggest decision point, the other stuff not as critical in my opinion although you do get used to the front park assist lol. Overland has better off road equip. from the factory, skid plates, hooks, 18 inch wheels. more color choices inside and out with overland, little less chrome also. Same drive systems for both with v8 QDII and lift. I went through a similar comparison and decision a year and a half ago it does drive you crazy going back and forth. Finally decided on summit, with add the skid plates and hooks, I don't do off roading that is hard core enough that a 18 inch latitude was going to make much difference over a 20 inch fortera so didn't care about the wheel difference. also some dealers are glad to swap out your 20 summit wheels for 18s if you really want that. If you like the overland look better and it has the color you want maybe worth thinking about it. Seeing them in person makes a big difference also. before you take delivery put your platinum summit against an overland and look at and drive both. just because you ordered one doesn't mean you have to take it, I doubt they have an issue with you swapping for a different one. only time you may get push back is if you ordered some weird odd ball combination they would have trouble selling, not a whole lot of options on the summits so kind of hard to do with those. Good luck

Re: 2015 Summit Platinum

I went back to visit the dealer I saw the 2015 Summit Ecodiesel and found out the salesman had mislead me. They had taken the window sticker off for one of their 2014 demos.

It's my understanding the 2015 Summits are supposed to have an active noise canceling system. Acura uses a similar system for their new MDX and it reduces the road noises considerably. I wonder if there are special challenges with the diesel engines and countering some of the low end resonance.

I am currently in the market for a diesel JGC. From my comparison drives of the 2014's the HK sound system more than makes up for the chrome. Old fashioned noise cancellation. After listening to it it's hard to go back to an Overland. The front park-sense and adaptive headlight are neat and all but that sound system is something special. I'd order a 2015 diesel Summit if I could.

That's a good point I forgot about that on the 2015 summit I was thinking 2014. So add the active noise canceling system, acoustic front windshield and the light up door plates. Non of those are as big a decision as the HK but items to add to the list as differences.

Re: 2015 Summit Platinum

The dealer let me take one of their 2014 Summits for a test drive over a couple of days. There is a special twisty river back road I like to take on occasion that's quite interesting for night drives. A lot of tall trees hug a river road that cuts through undulating hilly Mississippi river terrain. That night was on again off again rain. The adaptive headlights peeked around each hairpin turn for wonderful visibility. Built in spotlights. Can I live without that? Sure, but wow, it sure was nice to experience the technology first hand in situations that benefit the most.

The dealer had 41 lbs of pressure in the tyres. I backed them down to 38 and it made a difference in comfort. Much less of the basketball-dribble effect if that makes any sense...
