2015 summit price

I saw a 2015 jeep grand Cherokee Summit with the 3.6 & the California package at a local dealer near me. It was a executive demo vehicle and never registered.
Currently it has 10,000 miles and has been on the lot for a while. They are asking $45,500. I was thinking this was a little high as it is basically a used leftover.
What do you guys think?
Looking to get my first jeep.

Heres a 2015 with 20k miles going for 42k

And heres a 2015 Summit with 9k going for 43K

It actually sounds like the number is pretty close to what it should be. You could probably talk them down a few thousand, get them to throw in free oil changes and possibly new tires and it could be a good deal

I think that is high. I know when I was looking (before I ordered a 75th) a local dealer here has a 2016 v6 summit 4x4 with a list price of 48k. All 2015's get a an extra 2k in incentives, so 45,500 is about right for a leftover that doesn't have 10k miles. I think you have to treat it like a used, and I saw several summits in the pacific northwest that were used (2014/2015) with 25-30k miles in the 38-42 range. I think that is where this should be.

That said, dealer demos scare the crap out of me. All of those miles were put on in a combination of test drives and being a salesman's daily driver. The problem with the former is that some people are rough on cars during test drives. The problem with the latter is that the salesman/owner/etc did not have to pay for the vehicle and thus doesn't have the same level of care/respect for the vehicle as someone who has to pay for it. Now that is not always the case, but it is kind of like buying a rental return. There's a chance it was well taken care of, but with so many butts in the seat, it's unlikely that is the case across the board.

my approach is to "value" a current MY demo/used against my best truly new non-demo price. So, I get to my absolute best bottom line price on a new one with all discounts, rebates, etc included. Then, assuming it's the same config, I knock off $.50/mile from this bottom line NEW price. That is what I consider the value "to me" of the same model year "used/demo" option. So, using this logic on your scenario do the reverse. Add $5k (10k x $.50/mile) to the $45.5k used price. So if the same one new is above $50.5k then the used one is a consideration for me. If below then I pass. Of course, it's never that simple as options and condition vary and there is always some darn compelling "thing" (like want it now can't wait to order, ec...) swaying you to one option or the other but this is a guide I use to wade through the multitude of options.

I have found that the demos are priced near enough the price of a zero miler if you are a deal hound that they are a pass in general for me, but that's me.

Re: 2015 summit price

If it's been sitting for months I'd probably undercut their price pretty significantly($4-5k) or so and if they don't take it, walk away politely. When they call back in a few days come up a grand and ask them to throw in a Chrysler Extended Warranty.

Re: 2015 summit price

For what it's worth, $45,500 + TTL is only a few hundred less than I paid for my new Summit six months ago. Perhaps there is variance based on market. Mine had sat on the dealer lot for several months so they were presumably motivated to move it (I found that to be a sad referendum on the taste of most car shoppers since I thought it was gorgeous and couldn't buy it quickly enough...).

You didn't indicate, but if that model is a 4X4 it makes it a little better deal. Mine is not, although since it seems most Summits are 4X4 you may have felt it was implied. Mine is also California edition and there was another $500 tacked on for the dark sienna interior, otherwise it is stock.

Hope you find what you're looking for at the right price!
